There seems to be alot of posts centered around the problems associated with Inflation. For a long time there was a HUGE influx of money brought into the economy by various means. The money being brought into the economy has been slowed but ultimately the high prices will not drop until excess wealth is siphoned out of the economy.

What I propose is providing a money sink that those who have excessive wealth would WANT to participate in essentially exchanging money for something prestiguous and cool. Since the result would bleed off extra money from the economy it would in turn lower prices and normalize the overheated economy.

What I consider is adding a Mansion in the countryside or a Penthouse in one of the Major Cities. The Mansion would be surrounded by gardens and fountains and the both would have an opulant interior with plenty of space to display their trophies and rare items which they would buy from those who sell distrubuting the wealth in the process. The maintenanceshould be a steep 1 million a week (or more) and would be restricted so vendors couldn't be placed within it.

What good is being filthy rich if you can't flaunt it? Let people flaunt their wealth and "Live it Up" a bit. It would be cool for them and those who can visit and tour it, it would be cool for those who sell rare items which would furnish it, and it would pull excess money out of the economy helping to stabilize it.

I really like the Penthouse Idea!!Being able to look out at Coronet from the top of the towers would be really cool. I also think a Million a week is a little steap for rent.. buth then again I'm usually broke

Instead of placing a penthouse, I would like to see the possibility for really rich people to be able to rent houses in npc towns

The Penthouse is specifically for that purpose. They would be in the Major Cities (NPC Towns)

I posted this on the Business and Economy forum in response to the many posts that were about Inflation. I figured as it does "crossover" I'd post it here also.

The Mansion would be surrounded by gardens and fountains and the both would have an opulant interior with plenty of space to display their trophies and rare items collected over time. The maintenance would be a hefty sum (1,000k a week) and the use of vendors would be prohibited from its interiors. (Such grandeur shouldn't be corrupted by such mondane uses) Having such a grand place they would still have a want and need to go out and buy rare items to decorate their establishement which would then distribute the wealth.

What good is being filthy rich if you can't flaunt it? Let people flaunt their wealth and give them something to spend it on which ultimatley will remove the money from the economy and the end result will undo a year of excessive money inflow.

this is.... a great idea... griefers will want to buy it to grief some way... roleplayers will want it to roleplay in... power gamers will use it as a symbol of power... regular joes will think of it as something cool? or anyway, this has got to be a really good idea. though i think a mansion being planted only in cites as buyable but more expensive would be a great idea. but i have to admit, this will be claimed by crafters and powergamers that even want it in my opion. well, i think this idea is good nevertheless. five stars for a great idea!

Renting the penthouse (or any other floor) closest to the starport in C-net has always been one of the top ten issues on my "I wonder why they haven't implemented this"-list

It is probably because some people would feel that they should have the penthouse while others already rent it. This could easily be solved with an highest bid each month/two weeks or so.

Land value is another thing. Why not allow people to place buildings next to the npc cities? Just increase the land value by 5000% (50 times) on the most attractive spots (like just south of c-net). How much is that a day for a small house? 25k? Sounds reasonable? Right?

Not a great place to live in (unless you really like spam) but shopowners would love it.

I think the mansion is a wonderful idea, but even for really wealthy people 1mil a week is a bit much. A guild hall is just under 17k a week (2400per day). That's a pretty big gap. Maybe just double the guild hall (which is double a large house) and go for 4800 per day. That's a bit over 33k. 50k tops. 7-8 lots to place?

Although we'd really need to see that 75 item per lot not cap at 250......

33k is 3 minutes (except for preparation, i.e. getting armor, buffs, buying weapons) grinding time. 3 minutes work for a whole weeks rent?

Mansion... 50k a day, place it next to a city, okay... I can live with that. 200k a day... even better. But 50k a week... I could have 20 mansions in each city if I only had the lots... I mean everyone could afford it... which would not be the point.

I am a modest businessman who sells at a fair price and I support my city by paying over 400-500k a week to maintain it. While this takes a big dent out of my profit I pretty much hold steady. There are people with far greater cash flows and far more business than I.

Yes, one million a week is alot but that is why it would be prestigous. If every one could afford it there wouldn't be much prestigue to having it.

I think they should have something like, when you go to the hotel building in the npc cities, instead of having no one at the desk they should place 2 npc 1 named manager and the other named Desk clerk or something. The manage you can talk to for the price of the rooms so lets say:

1million for the best room has a pool and alot of rooms and can place up to 500 items

50k a medium class with a few rooms and can place up to 250 items

1k for a crappy room with only 2 rooms and nothing else and can place up to 150 items

once you buy the room you want a key appears in your data pad and tells you, what room you have aka rich, poor etc and also where its located. Once your ready to go up to your room talk to the desk clerk and you head into a loading screen to your room. To get a group of people up with ya, you must first group with them then make them stand as close as they can to you and the clerk (like the ship terminal). Once you finish loading you appear in your room. To exit you would walk to the door and use the terminal next to it where it will take you back to the lobby.

For mansions i think they should have them but you need to pay alot of maintence and that they can handle about 500 items. The mansion would be a large structure with walls outside making alittle cycle near the front door with only 2 openings in the wall to get in. Inside would have alot of rooms, a basement, second floor and roof with a poor on top if you feel like having some pool parties...........

Anyways i doubt they will add mansions or penthouses they world is already maxed with houses , harvesters and cities and the npc cites are laggy most of the time.

Agree, expecialy if appartments are put into the player and Static Citys. Having a suite, or 1 whole level of the building would be sweet.

I also belive there should be 2 new levels of housingadded

  1. Upper class - Mansions and suites - This would have a matiance of about 1 mill a month. 3 storyed w/ 300 storage. In Static citys its a whole level of an apartment building (not the top)

  2. Royalty - Villas - 1 mill a week. 4 storys with couryard (can place items in it) 400 storage. In static citys, the top 2 levels of any appartment complex. (limited in supply )

Right now I would only be able to pay for an Upper class Mansion or suite But it would still be awsome. While I like my decorated guild hall,A Mansion or suite would totaly rock.
