I already advertise my vendor on the bazaar in the item description box. I copy & paste from notepad into it.

I also spam bot too and planetary overhead advertise. The more spots I advertise in(just like in real life), the more chance a customer can see what I'm selling and get a waypoint.

So just because you can advertise your vendor on the bazaar does't mean merchant barker bots will stop. 'cuz they wont.

How silly. This is a video game. It isn't a necessity to advertise as much as possible or you'll suffer because you're broke. You're just annoying other players and gonna cause ppl to wear out their / a d d i g n o r e keys more quickly.

Well spam works in real life because despite all the people that it pisses off, someone buys the product and the spammer and company get a sale. It's not really that different in this game. I don't personally spam and won't ever do it, but it is a tactic that can work.

This is another one of those issues that won't go away... Vendor spamming is necessary. there is no way to REALLY know what is for sale and where you can buy it. I have experienced this from the perspective of the potential consumer and the vendor. When I am looking for something I can't buy at the bazzar, I go to the busiest starport I can find and see what the barkers are hawking. If they are barking, that usually means they have something in thier venodrs to sell. Only when I can't find someone barking do I resort to the painful vendor search.

Asa seller, I don't have a way to communicating what I have AVAILABLE for sale to those people who are looking to buy. This is the core problem that AFK barking solves, and until there is some other way of addressing it, we will have to deal with barkers. SOE may decide to prevent people from doing it, but it is a mistake without providing some other more effective mechanism for selling stuff.

Btw even if the galaxy vendor search comes in, people will still have spambots and spam droids.

Everyone I know that plays galaxies just does /addignore to every spam bot they see. Meaning, I don't know anyone that's ever made a purchase based on a spambot.

exactly. i created a new character this past week and i already have an ignore list i have to scroll to see all of.

SmartDarwin that's why I'm saying players with vendors should have a terminal or access on the bazaar terms to post their location, wares, etc... the equivilent to a bulletin board inside a post office or a grocery store or something. Then if you still spam you get disconnected. You're largely being ignored anyway with the spamming and I personally make it a point to avoid spammer vendors.

I've had lots sales and buysfrom afk barking in major traffic locations...in fact, I think most of mybusiness come from that activity(whether its from a first time customer or a repeat customer, I'm getting that business because of the shouting). It may piss people off, and I'm sorry to those it does, but how else am I supposed to get exposure? Go master merchant and give up combat orbuy another account? Not necessary. As long as I've got stock I want to move and have the time to replace it, I'm going to use everything in my power to move it. When the vendor search comes around and if I'm not buying anything, I won't shout.

I don't have many people on my addignore list. Mostly spammers who irritated me at a particular point. Some were crafters, others were just spamming. I try not to addignore people, since those people are potential customers.

None of my addignore people are on my banned list. All the banned people are scammers or thieves - people who have proven themselves to be untrustworthy.
