Thread: Allow non-artisans to place vendors

As the current system stands now only artisans can place vendors, I think this is royally shafting us combat types who have valuable loot and resources to sell. I don't feel like listing everything on the bazaar cause I'd like to build a customer base and you can only do that with vendors. Anyone else agree with me?
There's a whole profession out there that could help you - Merchant. Find yourself a merchant and develop a business relationship. You want to build a customer base, a Merchant could do that for you.
Its kinda of a trade off and its by design. I could not hope to hunt rancors and night sisters. I have no chance in PVP. If I want access to limited use schematics I have to buy them off of a combat type. Perhaps other features shaft combatants, but this isnt one of them.
I am sorry that you previous experiences with merchants have gone sour, but unless you are selling something very rare and valuable, selling loot is a hit and miss process (for me it was). Make sure that you find an honest merchant (many of us out there). I would reccomend finding a guildmate to help you out. You would be surprised what skills your guildmates cna bring to the table. And don't forget, that the merchant needs to make some cash out of the deal too =)
have you ever tried finding a vendor with similar items . . . then try to sell him your stuf through the offer option? Doin gthis, you can sell your items . . . hopefully have them placed on a vendor (if the merchant accepts) andtell your friends which vendor you offer your stuff on. If your problem is dealing with a merchant . . . then deal with his vendor. Sell your loot for what you think its worth and he'll resell it for a higher price
which will hopefully still sell. . . everyone is happy
otherwise . .say hello to CL54 ![]()

Be aware if you take this option that players who operate vendors don't get any kind of in-game notification that you've offered items to their vendor.
If you offer items to a vendor, be sure to send a tell or an in-game email to the vendor's owner letting him or her know that you've offered them some items. Better yet, talk to the artisan or merchant before you place items on their vendor, since some vendor operators don't want to be in the resale business and won't accept any offered items.

Good point there. Also a good way to build up a relationship with merchants, which could help in more ways than just in getting you your stuff sold.
Might I also suggest going to your galaxy's trade forums and seeing what people are buying? I've been using Sunrunner's trade forum extensively to help me purchase various goods, no reason in the world why it couldn't be an invaluable tool for the reverse, both in advertising your wares and in developing contacts--might find someone willing to broker your goods. Or sell them outright, buying them off you and selling them at a profit; finding someone who's offering Rebel banners, for instance (just an example) for 500K, and sending the seller a private message via the forums, 'Hey, I've got a Rebel banner I want to unload, want to buy mine for 250K and sell it for 500K? We split the profits that way, whaddya say?' might just work, who knows?

actually it would be 27SP
. . . gotta buy novice artisan too
but someone did make a good point to the in-game e-mail to let the vendor owner know that the offer was made. quick question though . . if you examine a vendor . .does it tell you the owner? I can't remember lol
