Hey guys, i'm new to SWG, and more specifically, to the Brawling profession. I've managed to make a little money, and i'm interested in buying a good set of armour, and perhaps a few weapons.
Any reccomendations as to what type of armour and/or weapons I should get ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Weapons
Firstly - we'll need some more in depth information about which of the 4 elite brawler professions you'll be heading for.
- Unarmed ----> Teras Kasi Artist/Smuggler (Hybrid)/Commando (Hybrid)
- One Handed ----> Fencer
- Two Handed ----> Swordsman
- Polearms ----> Pikeman
Each box you gain in the Brawler tree gives you the chance to use a new weapon. With the exception of Unarmed, for obvious reasons.

For One handed, I recommend a standard Sword, until you can use a One Handed Sword, which you should use all the way to Novice Fencer. It has low HAM costs for specials, cheap, and a fast weapon.
Two Handed, use a Heavy Axe (Speed sliced by a smuggler if possible - the speed is awful) and use it until you can use a Two Handed Sword. At this point, simply use the Two Handed Sword all the way to Novice Swordsman.
Polearms - Wood staff, until you can use Reinforced combat Staff, then move to Light Vibro Axe. At this point, you can go straight to Novice Pikeman with the Light Vibro Axe (LVA) or take up a Vibro Lance (VL). I recommend getting and carrying both a Light Vibro Axe and a Vibro Lance with you at all times, since the Vibro Axe does Electrical damage, and Vibro lance does Kinetic, allowing you to have more flexibility in your damage types.
Unarmed. Get a speed sliced Vibroknuckler (VK). You will not get the damage but you will get the speed, very important at the brawler stages. A important thing to keep in mind - never use specials with a VK (unless you're buffed - more about that later). Simply use Berserk and let auto attack do the rest.

Armour and PSGs
The most important armour to get at low levels is Mabari. It is cheap, and has semi decent Kinetic resists. When PvE (means against mobs and not players), always look for high kinetic resists. When you can afford it, I recommend moving up to Ubese armour, which you should use all the way through until you hit the master of your elite profession - Teras Kasi Master, Master Swordsman, Master Fencer, or Master Pikeman.
The superior armour is Composite - but it comes with a extremely high price tag, overkill at low levels, and leads to a problem - you need buffs to wear it. However it is practically essential in PvP.
PSGs (Personal Shield Generators). Don't go for these as a newbie, as they decay too fast, but Stun PSGs are invaluable in PvP, and should be something to consider if you are thinking of doing some PvP later on.
Buffs
You may already know this, but buffs are "enhancements". Buffs simply means anything that improves your stats. There are 4 types of buffs. Doctor, Entertainer (Musician and Dancer), Chef Foods, and Smuggler Spices. These are actually just as important, if not more, than armour - so I decided to but this in.

Doctors enhance:
- Health
- Health
- Strength (The more, the less Health - Action - Mind [HAM] you lose for doing specials)
- Constitution (Your Health regeneration rate)
- Action
- Quickness (Same as Strength, but lowers cost of your Action)
- Stamina (Your Action regeneration rate)
Doctors normally "Buff" in queues in such cities such as Coronet, and you should consider buffs when you hit Novice of your profession. They last approximately 3 hours + and cost 10 - 15k.

Musician enhance:
- Focus (Same as Quickness, but for Mind)
- Willpower (Your Mind regeneration rate)
Dancer enhance:
- Mind
You must watch a dancer or a musician when in a group. They will usually tell you when to start watching, and when to stop. After this, your Mind/Focus/Willpower rockets to those levels. Buffs are normally 6k or so, but can be free by some.
Chef foods and Smuggler Spices
Chef foods work on a "filling" bar. Enter your character sheet and you will see two bars for Food and Drink. These bars limit how much you can consume of foods and drinks. The most important Chef food - is Vasarian brandy. Howeve do not purchase this as a newbie. It costs a lot and is not worth it until you can make semi - decent amounts of money. By taking two Brandies - it bumps Mind/Focus/Willpower by 860 + for 35 minute or so.
Smuggler spices have a "downer" in which you should not fight, because of a much reduced stat. Smuggler spices are a lot cheaper, and if you can afford to keep an eye on the downer, they are affordable, and are good for that extra kick. Important Smuggler spices are Neutron Pixie - and Muon Gold. You can only take one spice at a time.
Hope this helps, and if you are on the Euro - Chimaera server, I'll be glad to give you a hand.

basically do this, what he said. to know what's "good" or not, you have to just visit lots of vendors, make notes of various weapons, their attributes and how much they cost.
also, read up on the armorsmith guide stickied in the AS forum. in it there is lots of info on damage that armor will take vs various types of weapons and types of damage, armor rating vs armor piercing, etc.
