Thread: Pvp question. Has anyone else noticed similar results? (not a flame)

I noticed something the other day. Now I disagree with just about everything being said about how weak unarmed is. I have master unarmed with vibroknucklers and do a lot more damage... usually... per hit than i do with my fwg5 pistol and pistol specialist... however with a tusken rifle even when i had rifles lvl ii i did way more damage than both pistol and unarmed but that is an entirely different matter...

well here is what i discovered. I tried to duel a rifleman, only to find out that i got my butt kicked... he kited me you say? no not at all. I was on top of him and it told me out of range! I've never had a single problem fighting NPC creatures/humanoids, but i try another player and BAM! I'm dead instantly... and btw he didn't use a single special the whole time.

Point #1. How can I be out of range? he wasstanding still!

So I say ok, we all know rifles are overpowered right now and there ranges make no sense at all, right? so I fight a pikeman who is level 3 brawler skills... and guess what, with master unarmed, lvl 4 ranged support and pistol specialist... again I get my butt kicked.... so with better melee defense, more toughness, and more attack, i still get whooped... and i had knucklers on.

Point #2. Shouldn't i have been able to whoop him with much superior skills? neither of us did any strategy we just stood still and used combos.

anywhoo, I play what i want to, not whats best so i have no plans on dropping my smuggling skills and switching class, but i just wanted to know if any of you have seen the same thing. Any opinions/comments are welcome. Oh and btw we were both transdoshins (the brawl)

Thanks for your input.

About Point #2: First, did he haveagood weapon? Second... in real life, would you honestly expect to be able to clobber someone senseless when the person is wielding a pike before he rammed you through the gut and spilled your body's water upon the ground... even if you were a bit more skilled with your hands than he was with his pike? Third, were either of you wearing armor?

It was most likely lag or if you had vibro knucklers, you were more then 3m away and didn't notice. with the +/-2m issue, you only have a 1m window to be in.

A few things:

- knucklers lower your range, so you have to be fairly close. What was your distance?

As to the brawler vs. brawler

- pikeman can target a single pool. Unarmed doesn't get that ability until TKA. So at your level, that's expected. You'd pretty much have to outdamage him 2-3x given a random pool hit, vs his specific pool hit special.

Yes i was sure i was in range, i was standing on top of him. I wasn't laggin that night either, and like i said, he was standing still.

Basically my experience with pvp using either my pistoleer skills or tka skills tells me that pvp is just as crappy in this game as it was in UO.

As far as in real life... If someone had a pike and I was the more skilled fighter using my hands, i would probaby have clawed his eyes out or colapsed his throat long before he finished swingning that pike at me.

as far as in the game. I'm supposed to be some sort of jet li/jackie chan wannabie with leather skin and claws right? why would i need a weapon?

thanks for the responses though

I found overrunning the person seems to generate more hits than trying to get in front of them.

Rifles are not overpowered. If anything it's pistols which can fire from all ranges, have barely any melee penalties and have a higher DPS than rifles do (although they don't have the first massive shot).

By the way the "horrible UO PvP" was insanely easy, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
