Thread: Which is the most defensive class? Master Fencer or Master Swordsman
Im planning on taking ONE of these all the way to master level.
Im curious as to which one would be the most defensive.
By defensive i mean, the one that can stay up and fighting the longest in combat, wether its dodging damage, reducing damage, blocking damage, etc etc.
Early on, offensive damage is a form of defense. Killing something in 1 or 2 hits is vastly superior than something taking 10 hits to die.
Later in the game though, when tanking 10k life creatures for your group, offensive power isnt enough (even from the whole group) to be a defensive factor. Thus, it all comes down to how much of a beating you can take.
So, between Fencer and Swordsman, what are everyone's thoughts on their defense values, especially in comparison with each other?
Although I would like someone to confirm if dizzy effects all mob's or just humanoids.
Master Fencers get:
* Alertness: +10
* Combat Equilibrium: +30
* Defense Vs. Blind: +20
* Defense Vs. Dizzy: +20
* Defense Vs. Intimidate: +20
* Defense Vs. Knockdown: +40
* Defense Vs. Posture Change: +40
* Dodge: +25
* Melee Defense: +24
* One-handed Melee Toughness: +20
* One-handed Weapon Accuracy: +110
* One-handed Weapon Speed: +90
* Ranged Defense: +19
Master Swordsmen get:
* Counterattack: +25
* Defense Vs. Blind: +10
* Defense Vs. Dizzy: +20
* Defense Vs. Intimidate: +20
* Defense Vs. Knockdown: +25
* Defense Vs. Posture Change: +10
* Defense Vs. Stun: +30
* Melee Defense: +20
* Ranged Defense: +15
* Two-handed Melee Accuracy: +90
* Two-handed Melee Speed: +75
* Two-handed Melee Toughness: +20
i dunno i would say swordsman, counterattack is much better than dodge

Counter attack just gives you a free extra attack that is unblockable right?
It doesnt actually prevent you from taking damage, either by reduction, blocking or dodging, correct?
Thus, while a nice ability, I wouldnt say the swordsman is the "more defensive" class because of this powerful skill. It would deffinately make him more offensive.
But when in a group, fighting things with 10k HP, that extra few attacks you get against it from counterattacks arent going to help you last any longer when the thing is pounding your for 300-500 damage a hit.
Dodge seems like it would
I think the dizzy attack is just for humanoid's. But it's really fun giving a tusken raider a beat down and watching his body spin around while you pound it to the ground. I just reached Master One-Hand Sword can't wait to reach novice fencer.

The actual message you get when a successful 'counterattack' takes place reads something like this:
"A diseased nuna hits you for 114 points of damage but you shrug it off and counterattack"
I don't take the damage, and I don't notice an immediate number floating over their head so I am not sure that it actually works like the riposte skill it makes itself out to be.
