i believe Chitin gets the highest Kinetic defense bonus (according to the strategy guide).

I believe Ubese armor is 20% on kinetics.

At work now so I cant verify. It works nice for me.

Realisticly, the best thing I have found is to get a good set of Mabari (18% or so Kenetic) and a good set of Bone (12% blast) and swap out when needed.

Other armors that are a combo are great, but they cost way to much and seem to decay fast. If you can get a good set with those deflect ranges, then great. But odds are for the time being you will not.

Padded looks amazing, but its way to much and does not protect well, not to mention the high HAM costs.

Another option is to stim yourself while in combat and not wear armor. you jest need to spend some points in medic.

I'd bet that in the up coming months, armor will only get better.

Well after spending trothkin knows how much money, i did a bit of side by side compareson of some of the armor available. Bone, Chitin and Mara are nice, each has its pros and cons. The bigest being the ham penalties. Unlike other classes, Brawlers work best with less i am seeing.

With Chitin, itwas nice for damage reduction, especially laserblasts and melee hits. Unfortunetly theHam penaltys were so harsh thatit seemedi was getting hit for more damage than it can absorb and it was takeing longer for me to dish out damage compared to plain cloths. Also too the regen rate for ham in chitin is like 10x slower than cloths.

I have yet to check out Ubese, hopefully it is better than Chitin.Imho you should justfind a tailor and have them whip you up some niceduds, spend some xp points to learn novic medic and buy a medical driod(which i highly recommend for any brawler, being able to heal your wounds in the fieldmakes soloing alot easier).

Also, by no means should you use Bone or Mabari unless you are a total n00b. Swapping out might seem like a good idea, but it's not going to work. Good Chitin is better than both. Composite and Padded made by a GOOD Armorsmith is going to be better across the board. If you're just "tanking" mobs then go for high melee defense (can probably get away withChitin or Ubese), but for PvP you want max defense against energy with melee being secondary (most people are going to be using blasters). On the whole I'd recommend just getting a Composite set with max protection against energy and still good melee defense. It will help vs shooting NPCs, in PvP and also against players. The only problem is the high HAM stats, which means Padded might be better, depending on your race (some are totally unable to wear composite, although you can get it sliced).

Rebel armor is called Marine Armor.

not sure on stats but you need atleast 3200 Rebel faction per piece of armor.

What's the opinion on Personal Shield Generators for Brawlers? I have a Trandy Brawler/Marksman who draws mobs with ranged weapons and then finishes them off with Unarmed. I'm worried that bulky armor would screw up my Unarmed combat, and the generator I bought the other day does a decent enough job of taking damage. But, since I've been a crafter all of my SWG life and am just getting started into hardcore combat, I'm interested in the opinions of people who have a clue. Thanks!
