Thread: Poll: Tanking vs Enabler in PvE groups which sounds more fun?
This is a question about what you want to be your job in a group, not if you want better defenses. In groups tanks generally has the task of getting the MOB to hit him and not other members of the group and to do some some damage, a very manly thing to do
You are likely woundering whatI mean by enabler? Well after comparing melee vs range skillsI realize range player can't stun, inimitade, blind, dizzy, or any of the things we do to Enable the mob from attacking/moving. So what if meleers job in a group was to knock-down and keep down the MOB so that the range player could lay down and shoot the the MOB, and you be there to finish the MOB off with a death blow.
As the Devs would say, the skills need to be fine tuned.
includng defense skills. but considering we get XP for using Special moves and not just damage done (which also may need to be fine tuned) we should not be getting short changed in the XP department. It would need to be set-up so we could stubefy and knock down a red, but have the time to do damage move to kill it solo.
So the way I see it it's Taunt, get hit and hit vs Taunt, stubefy, knock down, keep downand death blow.
What do you think?
I think if there was more information available about what the different techniques do (the descriptions suck), we'd see more people using them effectively. I still haven't figured out what stun is for.
Oh yeah, the other problem is that when these special attacks don't work against a tough enemy, then the brawler can't survive, they just get killed.
And I think "Disabler" is a better term for it.
Hmmm? I like the term "Disabler" better also.
Maybe if we got a bonus to our "Disabler" skills when grouping, the more players we are grouped with the higher the bonus. Something needs to be done the question is should it be "Disabler" skills or "defenses" ?
And on the item of the commands, the stun command works like this: If you, or an enemy, is stunned you simply cannot perform any special maneuvers but you are still able to use your default attack. On something like maulers or RSF soldiers this would be good considering they DO use special attacks that generate more damage than the default attack (the same goes with our attacks). But on something like Banthas or Fambaa's this stun command is useless because neither of these animals use special attacks, the damage they do is strickly from their default attack.
