Thread: IDEA! A possible solution for Brawlers wanting to Tank!

If your a brawler you know theres nothing that seperates you from other classes when it comes to holding your own up close on tough mobs. Just like everyone else you can get one hit killed but, the thing is you have to get right up close to attack while marksman can just sit back and shoot. Not very fair? I dont think it is! That got me to thinking, on how can Brawlers (melee fighters) act more like tanks than other classes without changing the game that much. Herearesome ideas i came up with:


1)DEFENSIVE moves - Block, Evade, Parry, Dodge to name some basic ones. We all know that these are in the game already but they are computer calculated and not player driven. In short these special moves could be queued up like the special moves we have now except they wouldbe used for defensive purposes. You could in effect use these special moves to try and keep the attacking mob concentrating on you (the melee guy) while at the same time negating his damage or at least reducing it significantly! Letting the other players in your group to attack behind you.


2) Armor Certs - Melee fighter only armor that drastically reduces damage taken at the expense of being too encumbering to wear while shooting ranged weapons. This would give armor smiths some new stuff to make too!


3) Energy Shields - In episode 1 the gungans had shields to block lasers blasts and such. Why cant brawlers in SWG have them too!


Basically any idea that can give the melee fighters virtually more HP's to work with or less damage incoming at them would help!

energy shields are in the game, they're just totally worthless and are used up after a dozen or so shots


hrm.. i think leavining the defensive moves as passive is fine, but for chrisake they need to be increased, they almost never happen


the armor things an interesting idea though. overall I think the best thing is just boost our defensive stats in general, have us take less dmg, and dodge/counter more

Go with the moves. You do have wookie brawlers in the game. Dont start with the EQ armor mentality. Those extra stat points dont do that much believe me.

maybe if the defensive special moves wouldjustplace abonusto the already dodge, block, and evade thats in the game already. This way if you really wanted to emphasize defense over offense you would use these defensive skills to add to your already given stats.

1)DEFENSIVE moves: You mean moves like Stun, Dizzy, Blind, Inimidate, Warcry andLunge(knock-down)


2) Good Idea!


3) They are in But vary hard to find I wound think only unarmed and 1H swords could was them.

Yeah I dont think that having to use a defensive move would help that much... I'd rather just see the ones we have actually work every once in a while. Maybe something like 1 time for every 100 fights would be great (this is a joke but would actually be better than what they do now).. I have seen my guy dodge one time since picking up the novice fencer skill. I have had novice swordsman and pikeman and have yet to see a counterattack or block work. If they fixed these it would help us out a great deal.
