Thread: I feel like a dirty exploiter
Heh, I know that feeling. I just got master brawler last night, and am 4 boxes into Tera kasi, and I just got destroyed vs a Mottled Wrix (white con) and a normal Wrix (blue con). So annoyed I have to take a break, and am thinking about mothballing my Trandoshan TK. It's just too frustrating some days. I spent a month of solid paytime getting him to this point, and I could never ever bring myself to do it again. Getting Tera Kasi without vibro knuckles.. getting master brawler by mastering all 4 melee trees and wasting 48 skillpoints. If I had to do all that again I'd rather just delete my account now. The amount of work i put in for the amount of 'power' I got at the end of it simpyl doesn't compute.
All my friends with guns are off killing dark jedis, jaxes, basically anything that moves on Endor... while I chase even cons around and get my ass handed to me when a blue adds in.
C'mon SOE, throw us a frikkin' bone here!
Actually, I'm the same level in both Carbine and Brawler (TKA Student, Carbine Specialist) and I have a great set of Vibro Knucklers, and an even better Laser Carbine. I notice I do better with my knucklers then with my gun. And this is on 1100 HAM mobs or so.
Now maybe I'm not kiting right, or maybe I'm not as skilled a player with my Carbine as I am with my Knucklers, I don't know. But I kill faster unarmed then I do ranged. I have a Mabari/Chitin mix of armor, and throw some high resist Bone armor in if I'm getting shot at.
That's just my experience though. I have seen lower level pistol and rifle users kill things that I can't do solo, but I would't say that Brawlers are useless.
I wouldn't call brawlers useless either, they're just significantly more painful to play as. With a very nice knuckler though once you're fighting toe to toe, yeah it's going to kill them faster than many ranged weapons will up close. The difference is the guy with a gun should rarely let it get to that point whereas the melee has no choice.
Part of it is picking the right targets, you're going to have more trouble with fast moving mobs using that carbine but it's still possible to kite them. Threaten shot, warning shot, later on knockdowns and bleed shots followed by a tactical retreat (let them bleed a whileas you wait out of range, return and finish them when they're weakened)are all good ways of dealing with faster mobs. Slower mobs don't require any tactics... just keep running in circles and firing away. ![]()
Yep someone needs to look into this. Certain weapons are unbalanced. This does not just apply to melee vs. ranged but also things like fencing vs. 2hand. Anyone that has tried it will agree that fencing is the brawlers best kept secret. The way I understood that this was supposed to work was that fencing was a faster lower damage attack while 2hand was a slower higher damage attack. Once you get to novice fencer and noviceswordsman you will see that the fencer will do higher damage with their melee hit 2 then the swordsman will. Another advantage is that fencing uses much less ham for its moves. I can do between 200-400 more damage with a fencing weapon which has less base damage. I use a sliced vibro blade that does about 40-164 with 2.6 sec attack speed. My best 2 hand curved sword does around 30-208 with 3.1 secs but has never done near the top damage of the vibro blade.
