I just read the interview with Raph Koster who says that once Creature Handler's Mounts are in effect, most professions will be able to attack while riding. However, he said brawlers are screwed.

This really irked me, as my primary professions are TK and CH. I have made the following proposal to allow for the 4 melee classes to be able to attack from the back of a mount.

Teras Kasi: Earning Expert Precision Striking unlocks the certification for the Magnetic Grappling Hook. As seen in use by Boba Fett, the MGH can be used while on the back of a mount. The damage is minimal (5-10 damage), with the effect of bringing the opponent to the brawler for a chance at a hit, and allows for a40% chance of Stunning opponent.

One Handed: Earning Expert Fencing Finesse unlocks the certification for the Vibro Whip. The Vibro Whip can be used while on the back of a mount. The damage is mediocre (55-145) and allows for a 40% chance of Blinding the opponent.

Two Handed: Earning Expert Sword Finesse unlocks the certification for the Vibro Grapplink Hook. The Vibro Grapplink Hook has a large device at the end with various poison tipped prongs. The damage is above average (75-155) and allows for a 40% chance of Poisoning the opponent.

Polearm: Earning Expert Polearm Support Abilities unlocks the certification for the Vibro Halberd. The Vibro Halberd has incredible reach, extending as needed from an adjustable base near the grip. The damage is above average (95-135) and allows for a 40% chance of Dizzying the opponent.

why dont the sword classes just put their sword out to the side and decapitate the enemy?

The only problem i see with this game is everyhting is getting geared towards ranged fighting. Only time a brawler has some type of chance is in PvE. Even with the decresed dmg, One hit with dizzy and your down then might aswell say goodbye.

Yea, I agree with the above poster. There's abselutely no justification why Fencers, Pikemen, and heavy swordsmen should be limited when fithing on mounts. TKA and fighting unarmed is another issue though, that's just not possible. You're movement is restricted and you have no range at all.

Long, Medium, Close melee range for the Pikemen, Heavyswordsmen, and last fencers in that order. TKA should dismount and fight like the normally do.

Make unarmed able to throw tjemselves off their mount and onto the enemy doing quite a lot of damage.. that could be cool!

Otherwise.. unarmed should not be able to fight while mounted.

They aren't. In the actual interview, Raph only said "Teras Kasi." Apparently Dracoblood thinks Teras Kasi = "all melee."

The actual comment was specifically about TKA's, not any other brawling weapon, I agree, wait for the mount design documents or the implementation.

TKA Should have a penalty while mounted. It's not like you can do much with your fists while on a horse. Pikemen with their lances should have a pretty decent bonus though. Pikemen also need a bonus against mounted people while on foot.

How about this. Mounted TKA /bullrush. Essentially a ramming move with a fair ( 40%-60% ) chance of dismounting a rider. We might as well get a headstart on swinging the nerf bat on this one. Besides the devs are going to have to allow for the possibility of a rider getting knocked from his mount. If riders are "stuck" to their mounts this will cause a very severe play imbalance.
