when did they put a freaking certification on these? i used to be a smuggler, and i used one when i was intermediate unarmed before, now i cant use one effectively? did they bump the skill requirement for these outside of brawler to tka? if so thats gonna make becoming a smuggler again a PITA. anyone know for sure when i can use one?

You dont get VK cert until novice TKA.

You can still use them they increase your speed, but no effect to damage. I've been using them since I hit expert unarmed, and the speed increase alone makes a huge difference. I am using 1.8 speed VK's though so that also helps.

Not sure if there is any other effects of using them before novice TKA

Man where have you been? On Mars? They added the certification forVibroKnuckles to Novice TKA thanks to our Brawler Correspondent "Spaz_Hairlip" in the last patch on Aug-18-2003.

As already pointed out, they did add a certification to them.

I haven't found a speed increase myself. I'll have to test that one out.

I have found that I do less damage with them, frequently miss, and have had to go back to fighting things like Worrts and other low level creatures in order to not get beat up too badly since the big patch.Trying to get to TKA was a big enough task already, now it has really gotten slow.

Oh well, I'm considering another line of work for that character.

Yeah this is actually a really annoying nerf. If you're going for Rifleman, Pistoleer, or Carbineer, you still need 125000 xp, which is bad, but you can upgrade your weapon. You can't do that with unarmed anymore. And with a gun, you can stay back a ways and get off 3 or 4 shots before the thing even notices you, but with unarmed, you're in its face right from the start and you're screwed. Easy 300xp things like crazed durnis become an issue because the reason it's big and RED is because it does so much damage up close. That 70k for pistol went pretty quickly, but I can't say the same about unarmed. I need it for smuggler, and so far I have 21k. Only 49k to go!

It would be awesome if they removed this "feature" of only TKAs getting vibroknucklers *hint*hint* ...

Put the cert in Expert UA. Sorry but I DO NOT agree that VK are arms. More like a special "glove" or gauntlet. It's ether that or some kind of just compensation to compare with other profs. If you still want to call VK arms then call the prof Misc. Martial Art. THAT would be more inline to the precoursor to TKA anyway, and open up a unique weapon/gadget possibility (like weapon-catchers and such that Ninja had). I know one thing, my 500 UA exp per day is NOT going to cut it. I and this >< close to dropping UA and taking 2-handed... I'm still not sure why I didn't...

Has to do with the the base speed of unarmed. Its a silly 4 and drops to 2 by the time your an UA expert. (i think) A sliced pair of VKs can increase your speed, but lower your damage. I"ve had a pair of 1.5/122 damage VKs since before the patch. They were devistating before. Now they steal 10-20% of my damage, but allow me hit faster, so I'm better of hitting for less damage, but more times

I don't know how fast a TK can get, but after your ceritified it makes sense to use the TKs for damage.

Why does putting on Vibroknucklers increase your speed anyway? It really doesn't make much sense. I'm not complaining though.

I'm not talking about that.

I mean, if you were fist fighting with someone, and you put on a pair of these things, why would it make you hit faster?

Heh... It's a game. Let's make believe that your fists aren't aerodynamic and those VK's cut through the air like a jet going supersonic!

Games should not be perfectly modeled after real life. After all, we play games like this to ESCAPE life, not get entrenched in it!
