Thread: Mind Damage needs addressing

First, I am not talking about the Mind wounds which show up as black in your mind bar. I'm talking about mind damage, which you take during the coarse of your fight.


Medics have no way of healing this damage at the moment.


Entertainers have no way of healing this at the moment.


your fight lasts until the mind pool of your party members runs out, then the enemy eats the medics.


In PvP the Riflemen who have the ability to Head shot for mind damage will take out the front line of brawlers, and anyone else with a low mind pool first, because they know it's permanent damage that cannot be healed.


This needs to be addressed, There are threads in the Medic profession board that need your mark to show support of this issue. Please comment there, here or somewhere. I'm a medic tired of dieing because everyone in my group ran out of mind pool.


Perhaps they could add an ability to entertainers that allows them to play a war drum or something to regenerate mind damage during a fight.


They took out the ability to heal mind damage, because medics were getting together and healing back and forth, exploiting it. I think if they put mind stim packs high in the doctor tree it would eliminate this.

Mind damage is fine. Just remove mind damage incapping or death on players and everything will be fine.


Mind pool should be for healing and special moves that use it. If it is damage to the point of being empty then you cant heal or do those moves until it regens.


Otherwise this game is going to finally flush itself down the toilet.

- That is the point of an unhealable Mind Pool. It limits the duration of combat, and caps what a certain size group can take out in a single battle.


- In EQ, the limiting factor is the number of Hitpoints your character has. This number increases as you gain in levels, and therefore you can survive longer in battle with harder hitting mobs.


- However in this game, your Health/Action/Mind are a set maximum. Even a rank newbie can get Doctors to buff them to the same size as a Veteran fighter.


- Given mind stim packs, I could take out any Red Con mob that I wantedwith a small two team group (one fighter and one healer). The high level contentwould be pretty much non-existent after that.


- If your team is getting whooped, then you need to reevaluate your strategy during combat.


1) Perhaps more use of mind buffs (Musicians/Dancers can provide them, so does Food and Spice).


2) Perhaps using fewer mind draining special moves


3) Helmets with high protection values can help improve the duration of combat


4) Simply have MORE people in your group. More people, more damage to the mob.


5) Attack easier mobs. Not every mob can be taken down by a certain size of group.

Mind damage is the great equalizer.


Incapacitation from mind damage is perfectly logical. No, I don't want you or others to take this away since I don't want another EQ, DAoC or those countless other boring games where everything is the same.


All these people calling for mind damage to be healable needs to go play EQ. I mean seriously, SOE is not gonna lose any money. Go drink your mana potion or whatever. Leave it off this Star Wars.
