Thread: Idea for a new unarmed enhancer

I have been thinking about the whole unarmed predicament for a while now. Many folks have suggested many things, some of which are good and some of which are bad. I don't know who posted the idea first, but a good solution would be to add one or two weapons to the unarmed line. As I was reading some of the posts about it I had an idea.


In the other brawler trees beforea vibro weaponcan be accessedthere is a certification for a non-vibro version of the same weapon (dagger/vibro dagger, heavy axe/vibro axe). A good middle ground way to go would be to add a "Knuckler" cert to the unarmed brawling tree.The "Knuckler"would beless powerful and slower, or at least less powerful, than the Vibro knucklers, while being faster and more powerful than fists alone. The appropriate place for it would be either in the advanced or expert specialization skill blocks. The point is that while getting experience should be difficult, it should not be overbearingly so.


Some might say "it isn't unarmed if you have a weapon", but in the case of this particular class of weapons that is untrue. When using Knuckle type weaponsone would still be unarmed since it would merely be an extension of the hand, as opposed to a formal weapon.

Think technically it's still considered being armed, but I agree with you that knucklers would be more acceptable as an "unarmed" weapon than much anything else.

Knuckles, weighted gloves, Tera Kasi Fighting Wraps, various "martial arts" weapons would be appropraite also (ones that don't fall in line with another melee tree) like Jo sticks, sais, ratan hoops and such.


Anything would be good. I'm dreading finishing off Master Unarmed for my Master Brawler.

I am trying to work through Teras Kasi Novice right now to gain it and it's ardurous and I'm ready to give up. I want SOMETHIng to increase my hits or speed or something!

I have expert Unarmed and expert Carbineer. I just paid 14,000 for a laser carbine with 37-240 (?) damage per shot, 3.5ish speed. I do a MINIMUM of 150 damage to creatures at long range. Usually it's more like 200-300, and withfull-auto-single, which barely takes any ham, I can do 600+ damage easily.


With my expert unarmed brawler, I do 60-70 damage wearing uncertified VK's (for the speed bonus). I do 70-80 without VK's, but it's slower. With a good Unarmed Stun 1, I can dish out a whopping 140 damage, and maybe stun the target.


This is just crazy how much more powerful other combat classes are at expert level than brawlers. I can take out 117 XP nightspiders andflewts in one shot usually, or two shots sometimes,with my laser carbine. I have to stand there for 30-45 seconds toe to toe, taking damage, fighting unarmed.


I really hope they address this soon...
