Thread: What is the REAL difference between the 4 melee classes

So Pikemen currently have the upper hand since they can attack as fast as a fencer, and yet do a lot more damage per hit.
The only thing that sperates the sytles is what HAM bar can they attack.
- TKA : can target any
- Fencer : can target Health
- Swordsman : can target Mind
- Pikemen : can target Action
Mind is more useful in PvP since it can not be healed so easily. But for PvE, it does not matter as much.

I've been posting a lot of Unarmed complaints laltely...sorry.
But if you stick in the Brawler line (not entering Fencer or TKA, etc) then Unarmed are the only ones who cannot target a specific HAM pool. One-Hand Body Hit, Two Hand Head Hit, Polearm Leg Hit are the skills you get at Advanced in 1h, 2h, and Polearm. Unarmed get UnarmedStun at Advanced level, which is kind of cool (and looks sweet!) but doesn't target a single reliable pool. I'm often saved when using my carbine by the ability to hit the action pool reliably when I need toget the edge ina close fight. With unarmed, you just hope that it hits the right pool. While targeted attacks only need to hit one pool to kill, unarmed ends up havnig to do 3x damage to kill the beast, sinceyour damage is spread acrossthe pools fairlyevenly.
I thought it would easier to ask this to you brawlers out there. I tried to gather as much info from each seperate class, but it's just too much cluddered info out there.
I might be wrong, and thats why im asking
1-4
4 being highest/fastest
Unarmed:
Attack = 4
Damage = 1
1h:
Attack = 3
Damage = 2
2h:
Attack = 2
Damage = 3
Pike:
Attack = 1
Damage = 4
I know that each has it's own style of fighting and each with own combinations and special moves. But what are the real differences.
It seems like all classes are looking lower ham costs, faster speed, higher damage, etc. I see 2h weapons down to a speed of the 1h weapons. And I see talk about the 1 sec cap. Well why would some1 choose 1h, if they can get the same speed using a 2h weapon but with more damage.
I don't won't to play a class just for the fact it just looks different when your fighting. I want to be able to decide which will complement another class.
I hope someone out there can really help me understand this.
Thanks

That is a valid point. I was considering all theElite Brawlerprofessions.At just the Brawler level, thenthe speed issuebetween 1h, 2h and polearms is less apparent.However, Speed for the Unarmed Brawler is an issue. The other trees can get "faster" weapons for each level and not rely on the inheirent speed bonus of theskill tree. Unarmed brawlers are stuck with their base speed (something like4.0) unless they pick up some VKswhich they are not cert'ed.
I would readily agree with Unarmed Brawlers are the worse/hardest right now. But all of Brawling and Melee in general has issues. ![]()
