Im actually going for smuggler profession, have pistol 4 and unarmed 3 already, and I've decided that the bone armor i bought just isnt worth the stat decrease...So, i want to know what kinda clothing would be worth while to wear to make up for some of the loss of damage absorbion.

Also, Im trying to figure out skill altering tapes. I played a merchant class before this one and couldnt figure out at the time how they worked as i found no clothing with 'slots' in them.

While im here, would you say smugglers doing mostly pistol xp would do better staying with an unarmed setup? Im thinking of doing TKA novice for meditation at least if not TKA/Smuggler...so i need an idea of what would be functional yet not be torn through like tissue paper in a firefight.

Really only you can decide, as I have no idea how you picture your character. I based my character off one of the "bad" guys from the old chinese fighting films. So i picked attire that best fit my image. Its not perfect, and evolved over the months playing, but now resembles more of a 1900's chinese military warlord. I still slip on armor vs some mobs, but have it hotkeyed. I havent dabbled in tapes, so i cant comment on that.

So.. pick something that fits your image.
