I'm almost at lvl IV UnArmed and I haven't noticed a grind at all really. I think part of the problem is some people are trying the power gamer route to build the XP where they find something and try to grind it out in a matter of hours/days/weeks etc. I've just been doing a lil of everything, some mission running, hunting for Project Dead Eye, exploring, going to events (such as GrooveFest II, kicked ass by the Kelt if you see this). So maybe that's more of the issue...in my opinion, if more people just played the game...role played some...explored, etc...it'll come to you pretty easily. (Oh, and the VK's I got from KiWi come in handy too, highly recommended.)

I posted this as a response in another thread but thought I may as well pass it on in the appropriate forum...

there are a couple of "tricks" you can use to get unarmed exp....

1. Bleed a mob once with a pistol or carbine or rifle (pistol works best of course)

2. Unequip the weapon immediately after bleed lands

3. Beat on mob a few times unarmedand run or just sit there hitting it/healing yourselftill it dies (bleed speeds up the process and doesn't take exp)

*note : This technique works because bleeds don't give exp for the damage they do, their damage is completely unassigned so theoretically you can bleed once, punch once, and run and still get full exp for the critter. You get unarmed exp because the only damage assigned to the mob is melee damage.

or

1. Use weapon to kill all of the inhabitants of a lair

2. Unequip weapon

3.Beat lair to death unarmed

*note: Make sure every hit on the lair is unarmed, that includes "popping" the lair to make it spawn the rest of its defenders.

Unarmed exp was the most hellish exp I've ever had to do (since I decided to become a smuggler I needed it)... Even with the above two techniques it took me awhile to build up to 70k unarmed mostly because I found it the most boring thing on the planet to do...

Good luck to anyone using those two techniques and pray they won't FARK it all up with some other ill conceived nerf from hell....

The fact of the matter is i've done that all already. His original reply was to me on the discussion board because 1 out of every 3 creatures i was killing gave me no experience.(also x-posted here in the brawler forum..the one about why unarmed 4 is so hard....). I'd post a link, but i dont feel like hunting for it.

I have 2 characters i play...one on bria that is finished off and this one on flurry that was pretty much done, but then i decided to rework a little bit and go for commando to try it out. I like to try all the aspects of the game. And i spent 5 days, for 5 hours at a time grinding out unarmed xp (starting half way to expert) and i was still 15k xp short of unarmed 4....actually i finally made it yesterday. But when you dont get xp for 33% of the stuff you kill..it's hard to level no matter where you are.

It must be a player-specific type thing. I've always gotten exp for everything i've killed (except babys, players, things that arnt supposed to give exp)

i have to disgaree ive just got unarmed 4 in about 3 days, unarmed was all i was doing, i was just generally just killing stuff on faction missions thats it, an stuff to an from missions, its come pretty fast ,

and using some Vk's under 2 speed helps too (so im not certified, but makes me hit ALOT faster, does deduce my damage liek by 10, but man it more than makes up for it) and Beserk is your friend use it,

I had some fun helping my pal get unarmed XP. I'm a scout, and the two of us went out creature hunting. We found something that was big enough to give some good XP, but not so nasty as to chomp him in one bite. He engaged the critters in melee while I stood back and lobbed state-effect traps at the MOB to help him out. It was a win-win: he got lots of unarmed XP while I got lots of trapping XP. Plus, I was there with my meager med skills to help keep him from keeling over when things got rough.

It was a lot of fun. If you have a pal who's a scout, see if they're interested in an unarmed/trapping grind night.
