Thread: Regarding unarmed.

I really hope this makes at least one person feel better.


The best reason I can see why UA I - IV (or perhaps tk) costs so much is because of the professions that come after it. You have your commando, which is now the bane of most players who do not know how to take one down effectively, or their template doesnt even allow it in any situation. Also, to me they just seem plain overpowered in pve as well, but thats just me (what a field day they will have when mounts arrive and they can only do normal attacks!(still a lot of damage)) Then you have well... squad leader. To me this seems like a lost cause of a class (due to neglect and the lack of every person playing swg being in a large unrganized group which requires a skilled squad leader.) Their group bonuses arent that good/useful to most people either (exploration 3 takes what.. 24 skill pts? oh and lets not forget 1/2 of not more of the people who play swg are CH-ers.) Then we come to TK, seen as "the bounty hunters of the melee world" by some, there is no doubt that they are better than any other melee class (57 unarmed toughness at master negating 57% melee dmg, every other prof gets what 25?, if that) Let us not forget the recent powerboost fix which really put them over the top.


At any rate, quit whining. I was halfway to tk on my main before I even knew vk's existed back when they were certed. The power you will recieve after "the grind" is far better than most other things.

Not going to flame - no reason to.


The game does have issues though - here are a few of my favorites.


All players move the same speed. This means that when 2 players that have different max attack ranges encounter each other, the one with the shorter range is _always_ screwed unless the one with the longer rangemakes a mistake. This happens because by kiting or chasing at the same speed, the one with the longer range can attack the one with the shorter range _indefinately_ from outside the shorter ranged weapons max range. This basically screws PVP for the shorter ranged weapons and especially melee.


Bounty Hunters (and to a lesser extent Commandos)do more damage at longer range than anything else in the game. It is not unusual to see a BH hitting for 3500 points every 3.5 secs at 70 meters. This is with a decent LLC sliced for speed and a range powerup - not hard to come by even for a novice BH. This gives them about 1000 damage per second. By contrast, using 2h hit 2 with my good 2h sword, I can do about 600 dps. The only T21 Rifle I've seen hit for 2200 points every 5.4 secs which makes it about 400 dps. They say 'well the BH should be better, they had to master 2 starting professions'. OK - I can master Marksman, Pistoleer, Carbineer and Rifleman (1 starting and _3_ advanced) and I still won't hit as hard as the BH even though I have a LOT more combat skills and experience. Of course it doesn't really matter cause you're almost certainly going to get incappedby the first shot anyway.


Two words - Pet Wars. Everybody is a Creature Handler or at least has the best level 15 pet they can buy. If they can do it they'll have regular pets, faction pets and droids. This is made much worse by the ATST's which despite their cost are still overpowered. (A friend was in a group on Drath the other day where 3 players and 2 ATST were clearing Ancient Bull Rancor lairs.) Now the game starts to play more like Warcraft 3 with your Hero Imperial BH+CH leading around 2 ATST, a couple of Rancors and some Probe droids just for fun.


Flavor of the month. Because for most things in the game there is a single best kind to have, everybody seems to spend a lot of their time trying to get whatever it is that happens to be best at that moment. Nobody wants any armor other than Composite. Nobody wants any pets other than Grauls & Rancors. Nobody wants any Rifle but the T21, Carbine but the Laser, etc and so forth. This is made even worse by the BH/Commando+CH situation. I just love it when you see a 'Novice Artisan' in full composite with a LLC and pets standing at the BH terms.


Lack of stuff to do other than Craft x till you get Y experience or goto A and kill B. Oh I almost forgot talk to A then go talk to B. All the missions are far to linear and there aretoo few places to explore that ARENT random outdoor wilderness areas. The few small dungeons there are are not solo or even small group friendly either. For the first big monthly story mission, all you had to do was go to Restuss, walk right outside the city and kill a trandoshans over and over and over util yougot all 4 disks. You'd think they could at leastmix it up a bit more - how aboutmultipart missions and some big dungeons that scaled to the abilities of the player or group.


The loot sucks. Oh boy - I found a treasure map (really a neat idea) and when I get there I get jumped by 4 guys that I one-shot and in the crate - wow 400 credits and a CDEF carbine. I think my favorite so far has been finally killing the Tusken King and getting- get this - meat. Oh boy - that was worth it.


I'm really trying not to be down about the game - I know they're working really hard to fix stuff - maybe I just don't get their concept of what the game should be. As far as I can tell - right now itjust feelsan awful lot like 'BH+CH ATST Rancor LLC Composite Armor kill anybody stupid enough not to play the same thing WARS' to me.

How is this possible? Are there really LLC with base damage that high? I have a BH char and i haven't seen a non damage sliced LLC with a max damage over 1000 let alone 3500. Don't say they are using specials because an LLC is a heavy weapon and thier specials only work at close range. (16m I think.)
