Thread: Idea for a new ranged Melee weapon throwing knife
Has anyone out there thought of a throwing knife, maybe even two versions, one for one handed (II or III) and maybe one for master or even an elite one handed (or a two handed version for double throw). This would A) fix the fact ya'll are basically sitting ducks at range. B) throw on the move from our future mounts. C) give weaponsmiths more of a reason to go up the melee tree since a throwing knife would have a finite number of "charges."
Make the lower level one fairly easy to make, have 10 charges per item in inventory. That would keep them as a "as needed" weapon. The higher level versions could require a specific resources to make the more expensive to produce and buy. Give those 15 charges per unit to give an advantage for using them. Fairly good speed, moderate damage weapons that would help balance the current problem of a single blaster user who can run in a circle able to keep a brawler at bay. Shouldn't be too hard to impliment, and would make a lot of people re-think the brawler tree.
I'm not trying to flame, but this subject has been beaten into the ground again and again. This is never going to happen fora few reasons. What is the point of a throwing knife? to do crap damage at minimal range. In pvp, they would be useless.
Think about this - a pistoleer starts kiting you, or even a bh or whatever, you begin to throw knives at him that are hitting for a fraction of the damage of what he's hitting for, you die.
Ok how about this - you begin to get kited, instead of doing what you did last time you use lunge, yes lunge! Within 15m this lowers the posture of your oponent and gives you a change to catch up (a throwing knife wouldnt be accurate at all past 15m anyway, and thats what i've heard some people propose - 15m range throwing knifes, i mean seriously). Run in, knock them down, put two dots on them whatever.
Either way, if you allow yourself to be kited, you WILL be kited.
If you want to rival the damage of a ranged person with a few knives, it is never going to happen. Ranged classes would then complain that they dont get any melee moves and so forth.
if youre that concerned about being kited, pickup a ranged prof and master it, or use terrain to your advantage (rocks etc).
i dont feel like writing anymore.
