Thread: What is with the new wave of Unarmed users?
I wish they'd have made hybrids for the other lines, and an advanced class for master brawler, otherwise there's not much point unless you feel your life is empty if you're not playing a fencer or something. Smugglers use knives for everything, they could have been required to have one handed instead of unarmed, maybe make a couple other new classes to require two hand or pike.
On that note, there are plenty of skill lines in this game that sort of need a hybrid or advanced to work into: Prospector for surveying, with certs to use advanced harvesters on rough terrain or offshore, maybe a brawler-dancer hybrid (this one dancer does her routine with a staff, it looks pretty impressive, be nice if she could pursue it as a class). Definitely some nice possibilities if they had a class strictly to make Powerups and SEAs, I make a killing on those already.

Tka and commando seem to be doing wonders in bringing traffic through the unarmed skill line.

also there has been an increase in the number of tkas lately... and many of these new tkas will be disappointed, it takes a lot to play a tk. even up close unless you use some strategy you cant get your kill in pvp.
There are probibly more unarmed users because Teras Kasi Artist is the best elite melee profession in the game. They get more defense, more defensive mods, more skills, more useful skills, and more speed than the other 3 professions. A lot of people master it, and many also dabble for the excellent defensive mods. I'm not going to be a TKA, because I enjoy being a swordsman, but it is just disgusting how much beter they are than me andmy swordsman,pikeman, and fencer brothers.
I remember someone saying shortly after launch that melee was an afterthought where SWG was concerned. I thought about this and now it seems incorrect. The devs were planning on putting in TKA the whole time.
