Thread: Wheres the Defense?
While doing some number crunching I realized we melee folk have no defense against other melee folk.
Lets take swordsman for instance.
Once mastered, a Swordsman will have a +115to his 2handed melee accuracy, but his Melee Defense is only +27! Does this make sense to anyone?!?!
And for an even scarier bonus, check out Teras Kasi Masters. +160 unarmed acuracy!!!
If you cheese your character out you can only have a +91 or so Melee Defense.
The only defense you have is your offense it seems. Who can deal out the most damage quicker. Skill drops away at master levels it seems.
Why include Melee Defense at all?
Melee defense isn't damage you block or anything.
The higher, the less their chance of hitting you. That's all it is..
On test server they're beefing it up.. But Swordsmen stay gimpy at it.
Exactly my point though. Its easy to pop another player.
Good that they're beefing it up though (sucks for usswordsmen I guess).
With the current patch on TC fencer and TKA have a lot of melee/ranged defense. I think that it is fairly appropriate that they have those skills so they can dodge things easier (melee defense makes you dodge melee attacks more often and renged defense helps dodge ranged attacks more often), but swordsman and pikeman should get something that helps absorb damage.
I am not sure what skill it could be, but there should be something like the current melee/ranged defense that works with taking damage instead of avoiding it. This would work well with how fencers/TKAs should be quick and able to dodge blows, while swordsman/pikemanshould beslower but able to absorb more damage.
