Thread: Brawler Questions

I just started my brawler yesterday, have a couple questions.

What does Center of Balance do?

When I use Warcry1 there is a yellownegative stat modifier or least it looks yellow. What HAM bars does this take from?

When fighting should I just spam special moves? or just use them sporadically to avoid draining my action meter.

Would it be a good idea to autofollow targets when they run away? or should I follow them manually?

Which HAM bar is more important for a brawler Health or Action?

Should I start with one skill tree and stay on that skill till I get all 4 skills then move to another? or should I alternate between skills?

I have read that it is a good idea to pick up the medic class to help heal wounds out in the field, how do I start this?

Also if I take novice entertainer can I heal my own HAM damage, wounds and battle fatigue?

Should I take novice scout, if how do I make camp?

Also have a question about a graphic glitch I have been having. When I hit the alt button to change the mouse over to a normal pointer the graphic behind the mouse cursor kinda sticks on the block of the cursor make the cursor look like it is bleeding whatever the mouse is hovering over onto the cursor.

What does Center of Balance do? <-- Provides you with a higher defense, but then yo do not attack...

When I use Warcry1 there is a yellownegative stat modifier or least it looks yellow. What HAM bars does this take from?<-- More than one. Yellow seems to be a mix of mostly health and action.

When fighting should I just spam special moves? or just use them sporadically to avoid draining my action meter.<-- Depends on a lot of things, like your secondary stats, weapon of choice, ability to heal yourself, etc... Basically try it several different ways like 10 times each vs one type of creature... see what works best for each circumstance.

Would it be a good idea to autofollow targets when they run away? or should I follow them manually? <--Strictly your call. I do both.

Which HAM bar is more important for a brawler Health or Action? <-- Just like the Spamming specials question, depends on too many variables to make a simple choice.

Should I start with one skill tree and stay on that skill till I get all 4 skills then move to another? or should I alternate between skills? <-- Your preference, but I'd advise doing one at a time so you can use your skill on one to get good missions to do for the other skills.

I have read that it is a good idea to pick up the medic class to help heal wounds out in the field, how do I start this? <-- Definitely. Get some 300+ power Stim Bs from a master doctor.

Also if I take novice entertainer can I heal my own HAM damage, wounds and battle fatigue? <--Yes.

Should I take novice scout, if how do I make camp? <-- I would for the ability to skin things so you'll have something to sell to a crafter. Camps are nice too.

What does Center of Balance do?

It increases your chance to dodge, block, counterattack or use defensive acuity (although the latter is broken or ineffective at the moment). It isn't very useful until you get into an elite tree.

When I use Warcry1 there is a yellow negative stat modifier or least it looks yellow. What HAM bars does this take from?

Warcry uses all health and action and no mind. The "color" of the HAM usage is the addition of the colors of the HAM bars used. This is using an "additive" color model ("subtractive" is what you get when you mix paint). Adding red and green together yields yellow.

When fighting should I just spam special moves? or just use them sporadically to avoid draining my action meter.

The HAM usage system is going to be tweaked soon, so hopefully this will change. At present you will probably need to use your specials sporadically, especially if you use armor. Using chef foods, spices, doctor buffs and entertainer buffs can help a lot with this. I use the chef drink, "tattoine sunburn" which allows me to "spam" specials quite a bit (although gradually my mind does wear down).

Would it be a good idea to autofollow targets when they run away? or should I follow them manually?

You will probably want to follow manually (until they implement something like /stick from DAoC). The reason for this is that you often want to lead a target a bit, i.e. move slightly in front of them, to to account for lag issues.

Which HAM bar is more important for a brawler Health or Action?

Mind is probably the most important. Between action and mind it can depend on what weapon you use the most and what buffs you use. I find that health is most important for me because it is the most likely to be hit by a creature.

Should I start with one skill tree and stay on that skill till I get all 4 skills then move to another? or should I alternate between skills?

That's really up to you personally. No benefits from one tree stack to another. Do whatever works.

I have read that it is a good idea to pick up the medic class to help heal wounds out in the field, how do I start this?

With just novice medic you can use stimpack B's. These can be very effective. I would recommend buying these from someone with high medic skills that has crafted some high quality stims. They will make a lot better than you can, and if you are only concerned with healing yourself then there's no reason to work on your own crafting skills. This will also let you build skills in medic much more quickly (the more damage you heal, the more xps you get).

Also if I take novice entertainer can I heal my own HAM damage, wounds and battle fatigue?

Yes, but slowly.

Should I take novice scout, if how do I make camp?

Hmm, there's a scout forum too. =-) But anyway, you need a general crafting tool, some bone and some hides. Double-click the crafting tool and select the camp schematic. Insert the proper resources and build the camp. After a short delay it will go into your inventory. Then find a spot that isn't near a city or a lair and double click the camp.

Also have a question about a graphic glitch I have been having. When I hit the alt button to change the mouse over to a normal pointer the graphic behind the mouse cursor kinda sticks on the block of the cursor make the cursor look like it is bleeding whatever the mouse is hovering over onto the cursor.

No idea. I believe there is a tech support forum where you might get answers on this.

StGabe.

Thanks for the info! This really helped me alot. Spent a couple days just grinding xp and now i have the following skills Brawler: 2/3/2/2 Medic: 2/2/2/2 Scout: 3/0/0/3

I am shooting to master Brawler, and not sure after that, maybe master Medic. I have also heard that it is possible to master 3 professions and dabble in another. Is this true? if so I still got a lot of grinding to do 8)

OH btw, I fixed the graphic bug that I was having, I adjusted some options in the video settings and it fixed it. I think that it was the mouse acceleration hardware setting.
