Firstly, Hi, this is my first post and this game is amazing, a little daunting but I’m starting to like it a lot. There are a few bits of terminology, which I could do with clarifying... so please excuse my ignorance while i give you all a chuckle...

Grinding? Something to do with upping ur skill levels?

Buff? Not a clue what this is...

Mobs? Enemies? Groups of enemies?

And finally I presume HAM refers to ur energy levels Health? A??? And Mind?

I've only been playing for a day and am planning to just kill some creatures to up my skill levels in Brawler, I've read loads of threads but they go into such detail and frankly confuse the hell out of me... any very basic advice on getting started for someone who hasn't even started doing missions yet...?

Grinding is a term used to desribe when you kill the same creature over and over again just to level your char, not really doing it for the fun of killing that creature but for the reward of new skills when you get xp from doing that.

Buffs are in SWG available in 2 forms. Your Health and Action stats and their secondaries can be increased for more than their normal stats for a period of time. (usually for 2 -3 hours) Dancers can buff mind, and Musicians can buff mind secondarys. (think regen ) Getting buffed gives you the ability to take on stronger things than you could normally do or spend less time healing or both.

Mobs is a term to referred to the creatures or NPCs that you are attacking.

Ham is Health, Action, and Mind bars. Any one of those 3 bars gets to 0 and you are incapped and possibly killed.

For a beginner, I would do the first level boxes in the area just south of the Starport in Theed where there are many low level spawns. (around kadara is good for this also) Then once you get a box or 2, I would try maybe Dire Cats or Crazed durnis on corellia. Might want to pick up novice medic and buy some stim b's from the bazaar till you can afford to buy buffs.

Yea what he said.

This is off topic, but I just Re-subscribed my SWG account a few days ago. Did they remove Talus from starting planets, and is jump to lightspeed worth buying?

Huh, I'm not sure if there's a right answer to that question. People either love it or hate it. Makes travel cheap and easy, but shuttle times are down to a minute, so that's not so much of an issue anymore. As for what the starting planets are, I'm not sure anymore.

Sorry... way for me not to answer your question. JTL... I like it well enough.

I'm pretty sure that they are 'funneling' all new players to Tattooine, Corellia and Naboo... for a while I think that it was strictly Mos Eisley Tattooine. I believe that they have changed it to the 3 planets now, but I am basing that solely on the fact that when you buy JTL you are given the choice to start at one of 3 cities on each of these 3 planets.

JTL is fun for a while, but it becomes a little repetitive in my mind. Considering the fact that it's only $30 (or maybe even cheaper now), just go buy it and see if you like it. If you don't like it, you can always just use it for the free, instant travel to any planet in the game without worrying about connecting planets in between you and your final desination.

One more thing, JTL is AWESOME for gaining credits as well, which is something that you might need since you are just starting up again. The space loot that drops can be traded in a the Chassis Dealer for 1000 credits per level, so if it's level 2, you get 2000 credits, level 3 - 3000 credits etc...

Oh, and if you get JTL you might want to consider becoming a shipwright, because it seemed very difficult to find parts and chassis' as time went by. When JTL first came out you couldn't swing a dead gurrcat without hitting a shipwright... but they seemed to disappear or at least they scaled back their stock quite a bit.
