I know, obviously, it gives melee defense, but I want to know how much, and how it works.
With the template I have planned, I can have91 melee def, how much damage would that stop?

The more defense you have, the harder you are to hit, and it increases the chance of someone missing you.
Toughness actually reduces the amount of damage you receive.

What is the cap on Melee and Ranged defense?
I am trying a new template, and if I remember correctly, it will give me 159 Melee and 144 Ranged Def.(not including FS Melee/Ranged Def.)

I believe it's 125 (hard cap) for Melee/Ranged D and the Secondary Defenses (Counter/Dodge/Block/Def Acc).

I thought the melee defense number was a value used against the max and min dmg you would otherwise recieve. So it reduces the max dmg you can take before the dmg roll is made.
I think I read a calulation somewhere about how it works, anyway thats what I took away from it.
