i can be right on top of them and my range modifier is still -6 ... i have vibro knuckles on but i've never heard of brass knuckles shortening your range. makes no sense at all.

It's because you're too close. It's very hard to hit somone effectively if you're too close to them, you just can't get enough momentum to get a good hit. Step back a bit.

are you master unarmed? it doesn't matter what distance i am - i am ALWAYS in the negative.

at ideal melee range, the modifier reads -5 (-6 with knuckles on). it is nearly impossible to constantly maintain a range that reads +0 or better. this should not be so.
