I don't care which one is better. However, I want to know what the differences are between the two professions and what makes them unique.

Generally the two proffessions are fairly similar. But there are a few differences.

I will do a little comparison summary

FENCER
Slightly better resistance to posture chanages and knockdown
Dodge ability gives % chance of avoiding damage from all attacks
Attacks focus on health pool or damage to all 3 pools
Gets dizzy and blind status change attacks
Weapons have high attack speed and lower damage


PIKEMAN
Slightly better resistance to condition changes
Block ability gives % chance of avoiding damage from melee attacks
Attacks focus on action pool or damage to multiple enemies
Gets knockdown and stun status change attacks
Weapons have lower attack speed and higher damage
Weapons have longer range
High End Polearms are very hard to find due to lack of resources


I personally play a fencer and am quite fond of the profession and don't have much experience with pikemen but really I find of all the melee based professions that these two are the most similar.

What about swordsmen? What makes them unique?

swordsmen get the most duplicate skills of any prof and are the only one to get an EMPTY (nothing at all) skill box... we do get an AP2 wep (hammer) but its messed up right now. We get a lot or area atacks, in fact we get 3 lines of area attacks, theat are more or less identical.. whee!!
