Thread: Unarmed and Pets
Thanks
Good question, I want to know this too.
I've decided to drop pistoleer in favour of TKA (I hit Novice tonight after two days of grinding unarmed, yay!), I'm a Master CH and a lot of the time the mobs just like to hit me even though I'm currently doing less damage than my pets.
Is it based on distance at all? I seem to notice that when I /follow what I am fighting I sometimes get closer to the mob than the pet does and it hits me but I can't be sure.
That's a bit of a pain in the neck, though
Hopefully there is a better way
Like 5 is at all good anyways. .
Here's my thoughts:
I had this problem until recently now i'm 2 3 4 4 tka and when using a mauler the enemy ai sticks to the mauler 90% of the time.
My theory is that the AI goes after the weaker attacker first, so in most cases that is you since pets have 10k ham and armor, however once you level a bit you will out do your pets.
The soulution is to use smaller pets i think, the 5 m thing works most of the time too but you get out of range from time to time.
What have you hunted to get so much experience?
If you sent in the pet, let him hit, then walk in to 5m away (3m if you're using VK's) and DON'T get any closer than your max range, the critter will stay on your pet. I rarely have any problems with the creature staying on my pet as long as I don't get too close. The minute you get within around 1-2m then the agro is going to get switched to you and it'll be near impossible to get it back onto your pet. Also, it's better to use smaller pets like the Bile Drenched Quenker or a GSP. The larger ones sometimes tend to stand back a little further making it more difficult to keep agro but after you practice then even with something as big as aGraul Mauler it doesn't becomea problem.
suggestion why not do quenkers they go down easier and you get the same exp. they only spawn in 2's and you do run the risk of getting a baby spawn (no exp) but in general the missions go faster than pickets.
