Thread: Quickest way to get to polearms4?

Hello!
First off, I am not doing this as a hologrind, i just want to get this section done as quickly as possible then settle down and take my time on the grind to pikeman. Just wondering if someone can possibly tell me the best weapon to start off with, tactics etc.

Well, I'd reccomend you get some Mabari or Ubese armor, then a wooden staff (preferably crafted by a local master artisan). You'll also want a Metal Staff and a Lance (not a vibro lance). Just kill the critters in the newbie spawn until you have box 2 or 3 and then hunt whatever wont kill you first. If you've done another melee class before or currentlythat should help. The armor is almost necessary because Polearms get very low toughness.

I started polearm today and I'm 30k xp away from polearm 4. Just get a wooden staff to get polearm 1, then get a good metal staff and hope you get a damage slice, then once you get polearm 3 get a Long Vibro Axe and hope you get a damage slice. Once you're at 3 its pretty smooth from then on.

Skip the LVA, at least until you hit Novice Pikeman. The accuracy mods are awful, made worse by the heinous HAM costs of LVAs. Stick with your Lance, and switch to a Vibro Lance when you hit Novice (use the Lance on electric resistant mobs, VL on kinetic resistant mobs). Once you have your second Polearm Support box, you'll get a +30 accuracy mod, which makes all the difference when using a LVA.
Anyway, early on, LVA is pretty nasty. May be worth checking out anyway, though.
