Thread: What the heck affects XP???

Greetings,

I am curious; what variables affect the amount of XP you receive from creatures. I started out as a marksman, and switched to Brawler. It seems that no matter what I kill, I get around 160-200XP for it. I barely got over 200 forpounding a Dune Bantha with another low level friend. Cuppas, mutant womp rats, and giant worts all give me about 160XP per kill. When I switch to my rifle, I can easily crank out 500-600 for the same creatures.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Would it help if I dropped Rifles IV? Is my "challenge rating" too high for good brawler XP? In the end I will be TKM and MCH anyway, so I wont even have Marksman anymore.

Thanks,

Well if you are in a group, the received xp is a ratio of the damages you inflict to the ennemy.

What's your fighting style? Unarmed I guess?

There are a few things that I have seen while grinding that might answer some of your questions. Im not exactly sure if this is how it all works, more of an assumption based on what I've seen.

When grinding the same mobs from novice to master,I noticed thatI tend to get less xp more towards novice thanI do when im closer to master. This leads me to belive that the xp caps that are set in place are based on what you subsequent "lvl" is. So if you killed a krayt dragon solo at novice you would probably get the same xp as killing a bantha. Thats also why you find when you kill with your rifle you get more experiance. Your experiance cap is higher with your rifle than your brawler skills.

So just kill small stuff till you get a little higher up in your given profession, anything that cons yellow to dark blue should net you good xp.

It could also be that your friend did alot more damage than you to those mobs and took the majority of the experiance.

The XP cap makes sense. I noticed last night that diseased bocatts (sp) were givingme around 280 after I hit lvl three in unarmed. It should go a lot faster now. Don't get me wrong, I am a role player and love"playing" the character to level. Ijust seemed like it was taking an awful long time. Probably because Icruisedthrough Marksman on Dant! The two obviously don't compare. lol

It helps to group with something, I use a pet, this gives you about a 20% increase in XP. Just make sure that the pet does not take part in the fight or it will steal some of your XP.

Yeah it makes sense, the cap is based and your difficulty (+1 difficulty each skill I guess) this mod determines your missions' difficulty too.

Actually the XP cap that was mentioned makes sense. I am a master swordsman and I get just over 5k xp killing mature handaks on Endor, where my brother being a novice swordsman gets just over 3k per kill. Odd but true.
