I see a few threads talking about the best melee template. It always says Master Fencer/Swordsman BUT only a few TKM skills in meditate or something like that? Is the TKM not so cool anymore? I love its area attack and unarmed hit 3 with a sliced vibroknuckler? I haven't PvP'd at but am thinking of getting into that. I am guessing that the defense stacking between fencer/swordsman is much better than with any other combination. No one seems to talk about getting a half-n-half template of maybe TKM and Master Commando for having both ranged/melee mitigations, etc.
I am looking for a detailed answer so that I can understand the fine points of these brawler class professions. Any info would help though. Thanks.

TKM is still fun, but here is a few reasons why it is not as popular as it once was. In pvp most people have 80-90 resist kenetic Armor and TKA's are limited to kenetic damage, so it is very hard to do much damage as you once could, fencers on the other hand can do stun damage (most people's armor has lower resists to stun than anything else) , and for that reason alone gives them a advantage in pvp. In pve most people have moved on to high end mobs that have medium or heavy armor, also most high end mobs have 80-100 kenetic resists. (NS elders have 100 kenetic resists for instance) TKM has only access to a AP1 Vibroknuckles, where as swordsman can use the ap2 sythe (kentic) and even better Powerhammer (blast ap2, good for NS Elders and such). Pikeman can use the LVA (ap2 kenetic) and the VL (electric ap1 good for Super battle droids and such) You can still be sucessfull with TKM, and it does have some nice features, but currently you can be more effective by dabbling for the reasons I just posted. ie TKA meditate line rocks, the defense lines is nice to have and so forth.

When your armor alone can block 90% of the dmg you deal before anything else is even factored in that's a pretty big reduction. TKM is fun and is still good if you dedicate yourself to learning how to play the profession. They have a lot of states you can apply and ways to weaken your opponent to be more suseptible(sp?) to your next attack. But most people want the "i win" (see fencer scatterhit when it was bugged, headshot3, /applypoison etc.) move and kd/dizzy is no longer that move since kinetic armor is so high in resist.
P.S. Sorry for trolling your boards today Mapai.

Haha, I think I'll hang out in the brawler forum more often. Great break from the bogus crap on the elite profession boards.

I'm doing TKM/Master Swordsman/Master Brawler/a bit of fencer, cause I like soloing, and being able to walk around with no wounds is a big plus to me.
