Thread: Unarmed Lunge 1, what am I doing wrong...
I am almost Master Unarmed. I love my aspiring TKA and they are great for any group, but soloing I have noticed problems with fleeing creatures and kiting NPC's (no PVP yet)....
I use follow, start combat, Intimidate, then styles/beserk depending on how I feel. Occationally I get a theif or desert deamon that kites or a creature that runs. While I'm autofollowing, I cannot style (out of range) or do normal hits and when I can land a lunge (50% of the time it says I'm out of range for a lunge) I get 1 pt of damage and the mob kneels for less than one round, they are usually up and moving before I can land my next attack.
The whole time I'm following, they are hitting me with no problems.
What am I doing wrong or what is wrong with lunge 1?
In PvP, we will get owned if we can't hit or stop a kiting Imperial scum marksman!
The second problem I have noticed is that our stun and blind attacks, though you get a message that the target is stunned or cannot see, seem to have no effect at all on the mobs chance to hit, speed, damage or anything else. What is the story on blind and stun?
Warcry does have a noticeable effect (what I would call a stun) cause it stops the mob from attacking for several rounds, but it fails more that not.
I totally agree with you. I'm not really sure what my stun is doing ~~
I have a question for you though, What lunge are you using? The skill that came with novice Brawler? The reason I ask is because I thought you had to have a pole or something like that equiped in order to use the lunge ability?
Am I wrong? Also what kind of damage are you doing? I am Brawler Advnaced Unarmed and my dmg is pretty low. Granted I don't have any knuckles I still want to do damage equal to what my level should be with a blaster or some kind of sword etc..etc..
Thanks!
Pairo
lunge is friggin worthless, your doing it right, it just really doesn't do anything. if it kept them kneeling for a combat round or more it would be ok but like you said they just kneel for half a round then are runnin before you get a chance to do a followup attack
the thing with them hitting you.. im really wondering about that myself, why can a fleeing enemy punch me with its back to me from about 20 feet away?! is this a bug? i dont think SOE's given an answer on this one

Pairo,
I'm using Unarmed Lunge 1, and yes, it came with Novice Brawler. You have 1-hand lunge 1, 2hand lunge 1 and polearme lunge 1 I believe that all came with Novice Brawler. The Unarmed lunge 1 hits for 1 damage (w/o vibro knuckles) and the knockdown (posture change) lasts less than one round.
As far as damage, i got my vibro knuckles last night! I didn't check to see if it made a difference with lunge, but otherwise, WOW.
I was doing 50ish on a normal attack, 100ish on a style or beserked before knuckles.
Now, with 12-106/3.1 vibro knuckles, I do 90-250 on normal attacks, 150-400 style or beserked.
What is even better is my attack speed. I hit so much faster with knuckles! Prior to knuckles, I would hit intimidate, wait to see if it landed or not and either hit it again or style or beserk. Now, if i wait to see if it lands, it's next to impossible for me to react fast enough to hit it again or beserk before the next round. I don't know how much faster or how many additional attacks I get in a given time, but it was noticeably faster with 3.1 knuckles. The best I have heard of (non-sliced) is about 120 max damage and 2.5 speed.
Supposedly stun is supposed to cause your enemy to lose a round of combat and have some of his stats lowered. I have noticed that a creature will pause for a bit when I stun him, but he's usually attacking again the same time I am if not a little before.
I also noticed that stun will cause an enemy's melee damage to drop slightly. Not a lot though. I usually try to pair up stun and intimidate. Works pretty well with lowering enemy damage. That's it though.
You arent doing anything wrong.
Its the combat system for melee.
Its "broken" so to say. Or better yet, it simply wasnt designed right. Of course, the devs will tell you its simply not finished yet.
Either way, we have to deal with this unacceptable gameplay until it gets "fixed". One can only hope it does.
