Thread: Okay you brawlers, please help me out with this one. Why did this happen to me?

I finished up Pistol 4 and was starting with unarmed combat, (I am thinking of going smuggler) so I went out and picked up a vibroknuckler and trained in brawler. My stats were set more for a medic, scout so I started the process of migrating them to more strength based. My stats last night (with weave armor equiped) health 900, strength 160, cons 160, action 950, stamin 300, quickness, 300, mind 1000, will 650, focus 350. I started with vrelts, which are little balls of fur on corellia. Very soft and fuzzy, and not much of a threat. I beat a couple of them to pulp taking no noticable damage to my bars. Then all the sudden I whomped this vrelt for 122 points of damage and the vrelt wacked me and I went incapacitated and the timer kicked off. This kind of freaked me out as I am way tougher then that and could not figure out how it had happened. My health, mind, and action bars were full, but I was incapacitated. So after 60 seconds or so I woke up and went and finished the vrelt off. I healed up the 120 points of health damage I had and went to the next one. Sure enough I whacked him for 115 points of damage and he whacked me and incapactitated me again.

I was afraid to battle any more of them as three incapacitated in 10 minutes will kill you I think. So is this normal? If so I am re-thinking this whole unarmed combat thing. I swear that I did not have sufficient damage in any of my bars (health, action, or mind) to cause this effect, so what happened???

Thanks!

maybe your ham bars weren't updating properly thats quite common happening to me.

Your HAM bars were stuck. Meaning they were not refreshing properly. It is a known bug and highly annoying.

The Only fix is to log off and log back on that will fix it. Until the next time.

Do know that using Vibros has MAJOR HAM costs associated with the special moves. It's possible to kill yourself with them.

You'll never be able to use more HAM then you have available so you can't incapacitate yourself, but VK's use an incredible amount of HAM for the style moves. The only thing I do when I'm using them is Berserk because anything else drops my HAM too fast.

Those stats are pretty crappy (strength 160, cons 160) you be way better off if you had like 700-800 health and 500-600 str. I have played with strength wounds where my stats where in that range and I was pretty much worthless in combat, just my two cents.

When you have Strength and Quickness bars as low as 160 and 300, your HAM costs had to be super high. I'd guess each time you were using a special was costing you at least 200 HAM points. It may be a bug where your client machine wasn't getting updated with the HAM costs you were giving yourself.

I was trying out the lunge attack with it. Like I said, trying to learn unarmed combat, so in the first battle I did the little lunge attack maybe 4 times for 1 point of damage each time and I didn't show any damage on my HAM bars so I never bothered to heal myself. What about the unarmed attack I you get when you train in Unarmed attack Intermediate? Does this suck up the HAM as well?

What I was doing was shooting something once with the pistol to pull it and then switching to the vibro when it came at me... I guess I will forgo the lunge attack then. :-)

Thanks.

As you try to get Unarmed 1, I would just put the vibro knuckle in the bank until you get Unarmed2. Learn the styles and get used to how much healing you need and how the moves take away from the HAM. Then get the Vibro Knuckles out. Now before you go fighting, get some Balancing melee enhancers, they lower the health cost when you style with your Vibro Knuckles, they last for 100 swings, so make sure you buy a few high quality ones (at least 5% to be noticable, 10% or higher rocks). Also this depends on your knuckles in particular, look at them first and find out which of the HAM pools it takes the most of. Mine are health, so I use the balancing ones.

Guys, we also take wound damage to our other pools like STR and CON. If they reach zero and unable to heal or maintain our HAM we can go unconscious. Our attributes even after they are healed from damage must then migrate back to full value. So get a lot of food and drinks to help this out.
