Thread: Devs: Perhaps this could be the solution for Kiting?
The biggest issue any melee class has now is being Kited. They get kited by ranged players, they sometimes get kited by creatures (at least its happened to me..no, seriously, dont laugh).
Lunge is not an effective solution, as the accuracy while running is so horrid you're better off asking them nicely to stop.. not to mention the server and client not agreeing as to what distance the target is at ('target our of range' when it says its 3m in the client).
Sssooo...
How about giving melee classes some thrown weapons? It would be silly for said thrown weapons to do damage, so they should affect the target in some way as to make kiting be much less effective.
How about:
Novice Brawler: Receive 'Flashbang' grenade capability. A no-damage, +5 @0m +15 @40m -10 @64m trap like device that causes blind and a 5 second duration warcry-like effect (target cannot attack for 5 secs). no timer on re-use or to re-apply effect. If ranged classes want to kite they will have to deal with the melee throwing this back at them. It should cost the same ham cost as the basic weapon hit (unarmed hit1, 2h hit1, 1h hit1, polearmhit1).
