Thread: Ideas for balancing melee with ranged

1.) In the brawler description, it says that brawlers are "extremely hard to incapacitate." Why not make it happen? A ham modifier perhaps, that gives more ham points to elite prof brawlers (in order to avoid people getting brawler just for an easy ham bonus) Currently only TKA gets powerboost, that increases thier ham.

2.)Increased range for server out of syncs- (supposedly being worked on) For those times when we are indeed in melee range next to a creature/player yet we get'target out of range' errors if they run..annoying and making us gimped against runners.

3.) Currently we also move the same speed asranged, and that would be fine if we had increased ham. But we dont, and that makes us sitting ducks while we get into melee range. If givingus more ham isunacceptable to the devs, then a similiar speed mod that comesinto play whenthe 'combat' window pops up. Currently some use burst run, but obviously that has limitations.

4.)If status affects were only givento ranged professions in the mastery boxes or master box, melee would be askill worth getting, able to deal out almost any status affect. ie, no more'blind' with eyeshot...

Any agreements, disagreements?

How bout a weigh modifier that affects speed? Heavy 100 lbs. weapons like flame thrower and acid rifle will slow down that character.

I think our biggest problem is "out of range" messages in melee range, which are supposedly going to be fixed. When the game actually thinks I'm in range, I can use lunge2 and drop basically any marksman in 1-2 hits. I'm not against the idea of giving us more HAM or better run speed, but I don't think it's going to happen.

Basically, when the range is over 20m, marksmen should win, from 10-20 it should be a toss up, and anything less should be an easy kill for the brawler.

Personally I think there should be a slowdown effect applied to lunge, in addition to the posture change/KD...if an opponent gets hit by a lunge and stands up, he should run slower for a few seconds until he recovers. The lunge1 posture change is pretty much useless, so this would help compensate. It would also differentiate lunge from the other posture change moves we get.

I think the key is the /follow-button.

I remember Dark Age of Camelot, where there where to ways to follow other players: /follow and /stick, where stick was made to really stay close, what would be more efficient for the brawler profession.

a brawler should have no chance in an open field of combat. I do believe there should be a more negative mod when running. But comeone to let a brawler even get close to you is SUICIDE with the -damage modifiers already in place.
