Thread: Yes, Its been asked before but can someone get the facts straight......
DO DEFENSES STACK?
Ive benn hearing yes and no. Its about 50/50. Can anyone tell me for sure. perhaps the brawler correspondent. I keep hearing that only some of them do. I so , which ones?

I am not the correspondant but I can tell you for a fact that
Ranged/Melee Def stack as do the defense against KD/Dizzy/Stun/Posture change. Toughness does not stack.
Not that i dont believe you, but could you tell me on what you base this facts?
A lot of people say that they dont. That the defenses you have are the ones that you get for that particular type of weapon.

Well Im Master Brawler, Master TK and am working on Master Fencer. The modifiers that are qualified with Unarmed, Polearm, One handed and Two handed (such as toughness, speed, accuracy and damage) do not stack.
My friend is also a TKM (and master doc) and he has +32 to melee defense. I have +52 melee defense. This is beacuse melee defense stacks (along with ranged defense). Also my defense against Posture Change, KD, Dizzy and Stun is much higher than his too. This is because of stacking from the 4 fightng professions I have (I also have Novice Polearm that is being eaten away by increasing Fencing).
As for what your friends are saying, it is half true. It is true for Toughness primarily. My UA toughness is 62 and my One-Handed toughness is 29. Basically I roughly take twice the damage fighitng with a blade as i do when un-armed.
