I've been digging around and can't find it so I'm wondering if anybody knows where to find an *official* statement of whether or not thesebonuses stack. I've read enough heresay on both sides of the fence that I'm about ready to scream.

ok long and short of it from my experience.
I am...
Master Smuggler, Novice Pistoleer, Master Teras Kasi, Almost Master Brawler.
Dodge does not work if you have not got the correct weapon in hand. If you have a polearm for instance, you will not dodge. You will counterattack however.
If you're using a pistol, you lose any bonuses for other specific classes that you would normally get using their types of combat styles. Such as all the Unarmed Toughness for Unarmed is all useless when fighting with a pistol, etc.

There are some things that do stack.
Such as "melee defense" and "ranged defense" mods those are not profession specific. The defense vs dizzy mods do stack. Check your skill attributes to see this.

There is a post in the pistoleer forum detailing the testing of this. Basically it turned out that the defense(dodge, block, counter) only worked when using a weapon that grants it. Dodge works with pistol and 1hd sword, but not unarmed, for instance. I haven't heard any concrete info about defense vs. state changes, or melee/ranged defense, but i would guess that they DO stack, no matter when weapon used.

Is defensive acuity prof. wpn.-dependent? Like would it passively help me counterattack when holding a clear?
