one thing i do wish they would enable brawlers to do is use lunge, so we can have some range while on a mount, like warcry and that, reason i say that is a ranged user can shoot something at the max range of their gun, off of a mount, and we have to be standing on top of the thing in order to attack from a mount.

or another idea would be give a single mount based special, that cant be used uless your on a mount, for all classes of course, that way we could use the mount based attack so we can hit something 10 to 15 m away, instead of standing right on top of the creature.

I think you should be able to use Berserk, CoB, Squad Leader specials, and maybe warcry/intimidate while mounted. Any special that isn't directly tied to a weapon or item. This may favor brawlers over marksmen when using mounts, but that would be realistic/historically accurate.
