Thread: What exactly are the effects of unarmed specials?
I'm working my way up the unarmed tree of brawler, and I have a couple of specials along the way.. but I don't know what they do exactly, or when to use them etc.. hoping someone can help:
Unarmed Blind - Blinds your target.. ok.. but what is the effect on a creature of being blinded?
Unarmed Stun - Stuns the target.. which doesn't actually seem to do anything.. what's it supposed to do?
Unarmed Lunge - never seen it actually apply a posture down... can it? does posture down work on creatures?
Thanks all.
haha holo 1 chef...
Thats what mine was too.... oh god its pretty horrible...
Sorry I dont know the actual effects of that damage... although I know in PvP people like to do a good dizzy from TKA first.

Yeah, I promised myself I wouldn't use my christmas holo until I mastered DE (didn't want my holo to tell me to master DE, which I was already working on =p)... so, 5 mins after getting master title.. I use my holo.. Chef!
Needless to say, after just completing one elite crafting profession.. I'm doing TKA first, to have some combat fun =).. chef can wait.
I don't have any TKA skills yet.. I'm working through unarmed IV atm.. which is why I was asking about the brawler specials.. see if they're worth using =).
Atm, I'm having best success with just keeping /berserk1 active.. can mow down missions with that active. It's fun hehe.
A combination of stun and blind will allow you to go after tougher creatuers, since they both serve to reduce damage taken to you, either directly (stun lowers damage and makes attacks slower) or indirectly (blind lowers accuracy, resulting in more misses.)
Incidentally, if you blind or stun a creature multiple times, the effects won't stack, but the duration will.
Finally, don't forget about intimidate. It cuts damage by roughly half, and is stackable in the same manner that stun and blind are.
Blind: reduces your opponent's accuracy so they miss you more (but how much is a bit of a mystery)
Stun: I think I remember seeing that when stunned, your speed gets doubled, so you only attack half as much. There may also be an accuracy penalty.
Lunge: Posture changes are only noticeable on humanoids, but it does seem to work on creatures. If you check the icon in the targeting window, they have the same "stand", "kneel", "prone" visuals as are on the related actions. I've hit a spinecap with a lunge, and it went from "standing" to "kneeling" (although the spinecap's avatar didn't change). The only change I noticed was that it wasn't moving until it went back to standing. A lunge on an NPC (not an animal) while it's dizzy sometimes leads to a knockdown when they try to stand back up.
Lunge also increases your attack range by 1.5x to 2x. I think for unarmed, you can lunge from 20m away without getting an "out of range" message.
Thanks all for the replies. Cleared up my questions well enough to know they're worth using =)
