Thread: Starting out as an unarmed brawler, need advice on an attack combo

Since the ranger profession is all but dead (scout 2 my arse), I am going to use my pistol expertise to try to become a smuggler (got tons of stuff to practice slicing and tired of going to a major planet to get sliced stuff) or TKA. The jump from ranged to melee has left me a little perplexed though.

I am wondering about a good combination for attack for a novice brawler utilizing unarmed skills to level up fast.

I have the following to utilize and am not sure of the correct combo to maximize my killing power.

Bezerk
Intimidate
Taunt
Unarmed Lunge
Warcry 1

I know there are stacking issues with beserk, intimidate, and warcry but I am not sure which is with which.

Any good starting combos for attacking (or links to such topics here or elsewhere) would be much appreciated.

Eventually I'd like to see how the progession of skills enter into those combos:
Unarmed Hit 1, Unarmed Hit 2, Unarmed Stun 1, Unarmed Blind 1

Berzerk is possibly the most useful special brawlers have. Right now, it doubles your attack power while in effect. As of the patch, it looks like it'll just add 75 points of damage. Berzerk is also good once you get Vibro Knucklers because of the HAM costs per special use.

Intimidate is very useful because it lowers the enemy's attack power. I usually start fights with yellows with Intimidate and then go Berzerk. That was before Knockdown, of course.

Warcry is something I never used but it apparently lowers the enemy's attack speed.

I've never found Lunge to be useful because they recover almost immediately.

Taunt is only really good in groups because it grabs the enemy's attention away from ranged/medic people in your group.

Unarmed Stun lowers the enemy's defense but was something I never used because I got Knucklers early on so that made most special moves prohibitive. It does look pretty spiffy, though.

The other moves are more damaging, but with Knucklers, you'll end up hurting yourself more.

Basically, before Knucklers, I'd spam Unarmed Hit 1 or just go Berzerk and do regular attacks. With Knucklers I'd just Intimidate, Berzerk and Attack. If you get up to TKA and get Knockdown, things will be so much easier. I'm taking reds solo, now. Experience is coming faster now as a result.

"Maximize my killing power, eh?" - Homer Simpson

I've discovered that your best bet is to get some knucks, hit an intimidate and then just let the regular punches do the trick.

Without knucks, I usually hit Unarmed Lunge, do an intimidate, then one each of Eyepoke and Headbutt, then Berserk. Honestly though, get used to taking damage. Most creatures attack twice as fast as us, even if they don't hit as hard.

I recently bought a droid and some knucks and picked up novice marksman. I took a Male Plains Cat down by letting the droid attack, getting a couple shots off prone, then standing and doing regular attack with my knucks on.

700 unarmed XP closer to Master unarmed, so that's pretty good. Still, it's a bit of a pain.
