Thread: The real MB 411
What makes Master Brawler worth the steep 4-tree climb? In order:
5. WarCry2. It costs alot, even with knucklers off. When it works, it's extremely useful. When it fails 4x, it's an extreme nuisance as you'll be at half HAM. It reallllly stretches out your opponents' attack time though. It's like bullet time.
4. Berserk2. It *always* works. Damage seems only slightly higher. It lasts a long, long time. This is good, and bad for obvious reasons.
3. Extra Stat Points. +5 Speed, +5 Accuracy, +5 Toughness, +5 Ranged Defense, +5 Melee Defense. Some Elite professions have skills at the Advanced or Expert range that require hundreds of thousands of points for just +4 or +5 toughness. Master Brawler adds a ton of nice +5 mods as a perk.
2. Intimidate2. Yes it's twitchy. But when it works, it's sweet. It's what animals cast on you. It lasts a long time, and makes climbing your Elite tree a snap vs. hard animals. If having Rancor damage vs. You get dropped to 120 points is better in your mind than taking 300-500, then this is for you.
**Drum Roll**
1. UnarmedLunge2. The cat is definately out of the bag on this one. It rules PVP. It makes you have decent odds of (easily) killing ranged kiters. It simply rules. It doesn't posture change like UnarmedLunge1, it Knockdowns from 15m. You need to unequip your knucklers to do it, then flip them on. This skill will singly change your mind on the fairness of Ranged vs. Melee. Promise.

When you UL2 vs. animals or NPCs, they usually get up right away, but are unable to hit you for their next 5-8 attack frames, as if you used Knockdown. Humanoid NPC's will stay down slightly longer than animals, usually for 1-3 seconds, providing more than enough time to close the 15 meter distance to them and apply a normal Knockdown.
Hope this helps. I'll answer any Master Brawler questions you guys might have.

Thanks for the response Scot.
Now I'm tempted to become a Master Brawler just for the lunge2, but it's a shame that we have to do that just to be able to somewhat compete in PvP.
Still probably cheaper point wise for me to just get one of the ranged knockdowns and gain better ranged skill in the process. Gah .. decisions.
I don't see this as a shame. It gives you a reason to get master brawler, a skill that utherwise would probably be unused by even more people if UL2 didnt exist.
Its a shame because it forces us more intopure melee to compete in PvP when melee is already at such a huge disadvantage.
If melee was better in PvP, I would love to go pure melee. However, as it stands now, range rules and I will not become complete fodder by devoting all my skill to melee.
The biggest problem in PvP is the obscene damage every class does. Fixing that would go a long way to answering melee woes in PvP.
I'm just waiting to run into someone with a light saber. They should be able to deflect blaster shots. Then we'll see who rules PVP.
