Just curious - I've been using my trusty Ryyk blade for quite awhile now. I've been qualified for a Rantok Sword for about 2 weeks now and I don't ever plan on questing for or buying one. Someone was selling one for 62k in front of a master weaponsmith's shop on Tatooine one day. I asked to see the stats on it and they beat the Ryyk blade by a couple on max damage and that was it. Other than looking sorta unique, why would I want one??

Okay, so what's next for a Fencer??? Novice fencer gets me a stun baton. Whooopee. The stats are horrible, like 40-80ish damage, attack speed in the high 2's low 3's. Why on earth would I want to use that? No other weapon cert for the rest of the Master Fencer tree.

It seems to me that this is the same for all weapons. My gf is a Novice Gunfighter and her DH17 is twice as good as the FWG5 she qualified for at Pistol Specialist.

I pray that SOE will add more variety to weapons and also to armor in the near future. As it stands, I'll never bother using anything more than the Ryyk I qualified for at Expert One Hand forever.

I have been using my Rykk Blade for about 2-3 weeks now. People have tried to sell me other things, but the damage isnt as good as the one I am using. As for the Stun Baton I haven;t even seen one, unless its that graffi stick thing, which I used daily till i got the Rykk Blade. Now I have 2 spare rykk Blades on me. The one thing I do know, don;t get a melee weapon sliced, I did that to my baton which was aroun 990/1000, within a week it was down below 300. Not sure about a sliced rykk blade but may try it once the one I am using is around 6oo.

OKay here is the simple low down on 1H weapons.

Rykk blades : great for that one big hit. can be slow a bit slow, but otherwise good raw damage.

Rantok : for the most part they are better crafted Rykk blades. Master Weaponsmiths with good materials can make better Rykk, so they are about equal.

Vibro : Light fast and armor piercing. Does more consistant damage then a Rykk, but you don't see those "big numbers" of damage. Lower HAM costs for those that like to special alot.

Stun Baton:The fencer's little friend. Bypases most armor. Can easily out damage Rykk on thick skined creatures and players.

So there isn't any one weapon for all cases and styles.

Just because a weapon has a higher cert than another doesnt mean it is better. The main thing depends on the smith creating it. Heck a smith could create a CDEF thats a ton better then the fwg5 that you find from an npc. Eventually, advanced ores/resoruces will be found and these higher ended certed weaponswill become better then the lower end certed weapons. It just has to do with how the smith is making the weapon.

What gustavef says is true. Read the armor guide, and use your examine command. When you're fighting tougher enemies, the stun baton is simply awesome. Very few opponents have stun defense; most are vulnerable to it. And it has low ham costs, meaning you can easily spam your specials when you have it out.

where you get stun baton's from? i havent seen any. i use a gaffi stick with 64-126 damage speed of 4.2 the closest weapon ive come across to that was a rykk blade that was like 43-146 speed 3.9 but it was being sold for like 6k not worth it with what im using. i enjoy runnign around hitting things with my stick though, but soon it will run out i got it sliced which brought only the speed down 20% to 4.2 so can i no longer repair that?
