I finally have made it to master unarmed spec. Teras Kasi Student. I group with a Master Medic as a hunting partner. Today I have been knocked out or killed at least 8 times with near full health. My mind bar goes down like a bullet, I can barely finish one mob before resting 10 minutes for mind to come back.

Just dosent seem like it was like this before todays patch. Not sure if something has changed but it hasnt been giving me trouble like this. I come here to ask for help, not to complain but at the moment im really disapointed in this whole "tanking" scene. In UO you could live as a tank as long as your healer had power. On EQ you could live as long as your cleric had power to heal you. On DAOC you could live as long as your healer had power to heal you. Here you will helplessly die at full health and no one in the game has the ability to heal your mind pool...

Why cant someone heal the mind pool? Even a master doctor cannot? sheeesh...

If anyone has had this problem and fixed it please let me in on it. Currently this is my stats:

1100 Health, 400 / 400

950 Action, 400 / 400

950 Mind, 400 / 400

I have Master unarmed and a Master medic healing me. I go into battle on a blue con mob,(some reason some hellish mobs con blue when in a group now, like aplains hunter)she heals me for 600, then 500 or so... I use my fancy looking styles to show that im tuff. My mind goes lower and lower... heals dont help at all... finally at full health I fall over dead. This evening I was incapicitated by a **edit** beetle biting my leg while I killed something else... I had a full health and action bar as I lay on the ground. This is disgusting...

Im migrating my stats atm to 900 mind / 500 focus / 550 willpower to see if it helps. Does anyone know? If this is what tanking is I hate to say so but they missed the whole darn point of it... The point is to keep the tank alive somehow for the length of the fight. The mind pool should be able to be healed by some class in battle. Then again I watched a pistol waver take out 10 mobs in a row non stop this evening and hitting for 375 - 450 a shot... really made the whole unarmed scene look weak to be honest...

not sure what your difficulties are, im a zabrack trying to get the 125000k experience to get to novice teras kasi myself but i dont seem to have many problems soloing or on missions. of course, i did pick the marksman template and ive managed to equalize my mind with my health and action, perhaps that could help you.

The reason doctors can't heal the mind pool is because it would kill the entertainer/dancer/musician professions. Bring someone along that can do those things and make a camp, and that'll help you relieve your mind wounds after the battle.

Sounds like you had a bad day. I have brawler skills on most of my characters, and wasn't getting killed at all. Sure, got incapped a few times when the battle didn't go the way I planned, but that is to be expected.

After reading some posts here and then doing some in game testing turns out i was killing my own self. Using the styles in the unarmed line (which is why I chose it in the first place) will kill you faster than the mob will. I had previous used a macro to chain all my pretty styles. I could barely live through one fight! Just walking up to a mob, hitting CTRL K and attacking seems to work far better than using all of my fancy licks....

But doing that is very lame and boring. To stand there and yawn while waiting on the mob to die. Think I will just work on pistol for a while and wait to see if they lower the mind costs of our styles. They should being it cant be healed anyways.

And also on another point, I use a set of 84 damage vibro knuckles that have been sliced. My best hit is around 230ish, average of 145. I get a -5 accuracy while in melee range. I can just put on a pistol and hit for 300ish with a +6 accuracy... They really need to do some work on unarmed brawling atm. Lower the costs of styles and remove that negative to hit modifier for starters.

Thanks for the help guys

Its not mind "wounds" that im talking about. Its the Mind HAM bar going down while in a fight... After the battle we can set a camp and heal the wounds up. The mind bar itself though will go down to zero while fighting and die.

That's strange...my character's got 600, 300, 700 for mind/focus/willpower, and using the specials doesn't drain my mind pool much. My problem is it hurts my action pool quite a bit, and THAT will get me killed.

For specials, the easiest and least boring method is to Berserk, then attack your victim. You'll wait less time that way. I don't do many special moves because they kill my action pool. But berserk is worth it, if it works. If it doesn't, heal yourself and try again.

I'm gonna go find out if Knockdown is worth it now...

Here's a silly idea...

I dunno if this will completely solve your problems, but I find the special moves cost way too much to use. You would survive longer if you didn't use so many. Use something useful like blind or lunge. But very sparingly.

Does anyone else think that a guy engaged with a brawler should take a severe defense penalty to ranged fire?

Sounds like the same problem I had. Once I figured out I had to cut the special moves, I survived longer. Kinda sucked though. The special moves are the fun of the fight. More bells and whistles dammit!

Well, you CAN pretty much spam the special moves...if you take your knucklers off. As one poster said, get some food. There's food out there that raises your mind stats.

Look at your knuckler's HAM costs, too. They add to the HAM usage CONSIDERABLY. I have knockdown1. With my knucklers, it's about 124 total points used. Without my knucklers (which are pretty high quality), I use about 34 points. That tells you something right there.

Another thing, if you're wearing armor, it effects your substats. The lower your substats, the slower you regerate AND, you potentially use more points per special move.

Also remember that focus affects the cost of your moves, sounds like regen isn't your problem, but cost. Migrate stats to stronger focus and you may notice improvement with those VK's

Teras Kasihere,

I dont want to sound like an a-hole or anything but if this is happening then the problem is you and not the profession.

I have never experienced what you are describing UNLESS I was crazy enough to style spam while wearing Vibro Knucklers (VK's). If this is what you are doing then you might as well put a pistol to your head before each fight.

If you don't have VK's then get them and learn how to equip/unequip them in between style usage. Also, stop spamming styles. Many styles like Unarmed Stun and Blindneed only be applied once every 30 seconds or so. Your best bet is to go Berserk then equip your VK's before obtaining Knockdown in the TK line should you choose that path.

If you are stat migrating then make sure you get as close to maxing Con, Stamina, and Willpower as you can as this dictates regen rate for each bar in the HAM. There are a few melee template examples out there. Sorry I don't have links for you.

Bottom line, if you are being backed up by a Master Medic you should be eating red cons for breakfast. Go to Talus and hunt Foaming Vynocks with your medic buddy. They give 700 weapon exp at your level. I soloed them without a medic with a bit of downtime between each fight. With a medic, I couldn't find enough of them bastids to kill. I fear I single handidly erased that species from the face of Talus on Sunrunner.

Good luck to ya.
