I'm an advanced unarmed brawler and I want to be able to heal myself and others as well. How do I start? I went to the medic trainer and i have all the requirements except for the 1000 medic xp points or whatever, and I was wondering how do I get those if I cant use stimpacks unless I'm at least a novice medic?? How else do I get medic xp?

Anyone else trying a Brawler/Medic combo? If so, any tips/advice? How about HAM?

I'll admit it...I'm a Mon Cal Brawler...a Mon Cal Swordsman-wanna-be, in fact. However because I'm Mon Cal, and my Mind is so high, as well as my Focus and Willpower stats, I decided that Medic would probably help me out. So, I sought some advice, and came to the conclusion that the First-Aid and Pharmocology trees were the only ones I need to advance in for any sort of significant healing. At Pharm. 3, you can use Stim Cs (if they're experimented on, and the Medicine Use required brought down to 30). At First Aid 3, you get quite a significant boost to your healing power. I didn't raise Diagnostics, as I am not interested in high-speed healing, just 1 or 2 support Stims during a battle. Organic Chem is useless to me...I'd rather buy my medicines.

Now, I have my HAM bars at 850/850/850. I've maxed out Strength, Quickness, Focus and Willpower. I left Stamina and Constitution low on purpose, since I will be relying on self-healing for regeneration (and with high Mind, I can sparea little blue in order to get back some red and green).

So far, I've done pretty well for myself...I've even joined a group where I was the primary healer, and we did alright for the night. Anyone else have anything they'd like to add or criticize? I was thinking of maybe going all the way up to Master Medic, and picking up Doctor, then going up the Doctor Knowledge tree, so that I could use the HAM Enhancement buff stims. However, that would require me giving up all forms of ranged combat (I use a Rifle at Expert level as extra long-range support...it's my work-around to running-mobs-that-still-attack bug).

Well, if no one has anything else to add, I hope this serves asa useful bit of info for Brawlers who'd like to enhance their prowess with a little Medic.

I'm currently a TKA/Medic/Master Marksman. I gave up on Commando, so I started on Medic. I find being able to heal faster to be a big help. I craft my own stims/woundpacks so I'm well on my way to Master Medic. I too am considering going the Doctor route for the stat buffs. Though, I suppose I could just buy Tatooine Sunshine and such, so we'll see how I feel when I'm done with Medic.

I'm giving up Marksman except for pistol so I may become a pistoleer, as well. That's part of the fun of continually evolving characters.

Overall, a melee/medic is a good combination. Almost a necessary one, too. Luckily, with knockdown, I can apply a stim after every knockdown without fear of being attacked while doing it.

Im going for a Pikeman/Doctor combo.

My plan is to eventually be able to buff up my Pikeman via Doctor buffs + Food+ Spices and make him a juggernaut of destruction

I don't think I'll drop my Ranged skills. A Mind Bleed at 60m, followed by 2 quick Two-Handed Head Hits up-close will be pretty devastating. I can already take on mobs that would be suicidal if I open up with a couple of good Head Shots from my Rifle.
