Go with swords. Unless you run up against an artisan you have an advantage...even then you have an advantage...

Unless you're fighting creatures which often than not, if they don't have equal HAMs across the board, actually has higher mind.

Don't pick Pikeman, they are by far the bottom of the melee fighter class. Just look in the pikeman fourm and see some really depress people in there. I'm one of them. We miss more than half the time. We are the slowest and we don't do that much damage compare to the other classes that hit more often and miss less than us... So this is a warning not to get into Pikeman.

The advantage of being at the bottom of the food chain is that most of the changes coming to your profession will be improving your strength rather than worsening it (theoretically, anyway). I have no doubt that's little or no comfort to you in the short term, but eventually you'll start to hear screaming and protesting and daily petition posts as other professions have an axe taken to their skill trees. When you're at the bottom, there's no place to go but up; when you're at the top..well, look at creature handler posts on the test center boardfor the end of that quote.

The real question is whether SOE will bother to lift up the bottom professions or if they'll just chop everyone else down to the same level. It's starting to look a bit like the latter, and I'm not sure which end I'd rather be on. I really hope that I'm wrong, of course.I think it would be great if, all things being equal, any given combat profession could beat any other combat profession at both PvE and PvP at any given moment. That's the holy grail of MMOs.It's wishful thinking, but wishful thinking keeps my mind busy while I wait for my health to regenerate.

Cheers to all brawlers. It takes a special group of people to purposely choose a profession that does more damage to itself than it does to its enemies.

I am Most sorry , I beg to disagree, after having Played and gotten to Polearm master, I have found that I am Most Pleased withn the Profession I have chosen. What I have discoverred Most ppl's issues are is armor, and How Much it damages us to use it In the Long run. I don't wear armor. I used to and got Killed often was Not happy, My speed was Not good, and a few Blues would have me Incapacitated. Elsewhere I have Posted ( see above ... what armor...pieces..?)There is a stiry, too Long to repeat, But what I discoverred is, if you leave the armor to the **edit** Marksman that need it, your damage output and speed will go up.

I have to respond, and it may seem Impolite to say this, But I would Not want any Pikeman enthusiast to give Up on this class without trying, But, maybe the reason you are Unhappy with Pokeman, is because you are just Not a good Polearm fighter?

Fact is, I do destroy missions a Lot, and have found that the best thing to wear is My red fleshwrap. and I take out capper nests, Ikopi lairs, hermit crabs, Nightspiders... etc.. all with No armor.

Seems that when one does Not do well with a profession it is always easiest, to put the Profession down, than admit Ineptitude.

Do everyone a favor, don't pan a profession just because you happen to Not Knwo How to Play it. I on the other hand fight 3 to 4 white conns at a time, and come out on top. Then again what do I Know... you are the authority, so therefore, it has to suck. :-)
