Thread: Newbie question: conning colors
How does the color con system work? I click on a target and it show green, but next thing I know I'm getting my arse handed to me. So am I looking at the wrong thing? Is it the color they appear on my radar instead? That doesn't make sense because I trash on most smaller critters, thugs, swoops, and scavengers. But if I get ranchers, that's a bit of a solo fight, and if I get named jabba guys, I tend to have to get incapp'dtwo times before I can kill them. So what am I supposed to look for to figure out if I can take it down? I tried it with a dewback and got stomped to death. urg.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but keep in mind that thecolour code changes depending what armour and weapons you have equipped. So something conning blue could change to red ina real hurry if you switch to some inferior weapon.
-E
White - You and non-attackable NPC's
Yellow - Attackable mobs, NPC's, lairs
Red - Aggro mobs, NPC's (They'll attack on site most of the time)
Colors as they appear next to the target's HAM bars (this is in the manual, btw):
Green - Extremely easy
Blue - Fairly easy
White - Medium
Yellow - Tough
Red - Very tough to impossible
At least that's how it's supposed to be and if I got colors mixed up (green and blue specifically), please correct me.
Yeah it is interesting that the /con color can change mid fight.
I was a fairly accomplished unarmed fighter who would carry around a pistol just to pull mobs. I was running along and saw a group of creatures that /conned white. i though cool, I can take these one-on-one. I flopped down on the group, switched to pistol and as the creature charged, I saw I picked a red /con creature.
I started running for my life thinking how unlucky that I would pick the only red /con in the bunch. After this happend a couple of times, I realized what was happening. They were /conning white but as soon as I switched to pistol (no skill) the system dynamically calculated that with that weapon I was dead.
So I would pull with the pistol, realizing that the red /con was only temporary, and as they closed, I would switch to vibro-knucklers and they would switch to white /con
