Thread: Nice cop out devs...Ranged v. Melee re-visted by Holo, today.
In one on one PvP combat in an open area, don't bring a knife to a gunfight. There's no other way to put it.
In closed quarters, it isn't quite as cleara scenario.
I think anyone who has had mixed meleers and ranged folks in a group knows that meleers do indeed have a good role to play. But in head-to-head one-on-onePvP, there's no getting past the fact that melee vs blaster is a mismatch in favor of the blaster in most areas in the game.
IMHO, this doesn't mean that melee is not worth having in the game. People enjoy it, people do well at it, and they want it in the game. It's just hard to get past the fundamental fact that blasters are a superior weapon at a distance.

This was said today. In otherwords, stop wasting your time PvPing as a brawler, they wont fix it as they don't see it as a problem.
He said at range. Now lets see this is a game with a space expansion coming. Possibly boarding of enemy ships. Ever think there might come some combat scenarios whee melee skills have the upper hand like close quarters combat.
On a planet theres no question you'll be at a disadvantage. His statement was carefully qualified. Your reaction is understandable as what we experience now is open field combat. Just hope they put in some nice tight ship hallways for your head bashing pleasure. I'm thinking sniping down a 20 foot hallway isn't going to be too good for riflemen.

This comment does not say anything abour range, not to mention the fact that even at range we still get owned. Wake up and smell reality, we are 2nd class citizens of this game.
I happen to agree with what the dude said. I think it was even said fairly. He's right. If you bring a knife to a gunfight, you lose. Period. If the fight starts before the dude has a chance to get his gun ready, then maybe the guy with the knife has a chance. At range, ANY melee person is screwed...and should be.
Goddamn, I am tired of seeing these posts. This is coming from a Teras Kasi Artist, too.
If they dont intend to ballance out melee vs ranged they shouldent have bothered to have Brawlers in the game from the start so thoes of us who has chosen that profession could have played something else from the day we started.
If you bring a knife to a gunfight, that means you're dang serious about the fight.
So if you're in close, you have the advantage over the gun wielder who shouldn't want to be in a close range fight... instead they just knock you down and kite you all over... because apparently guns can be fired at near perfect accuracy directly behind you while running at full speed, through immovable objects.
What they need to do is decrease weapon accuracy while moving, and based on orientation.
Wow Wookinpanub, such brilliant remarks, I mean you almost got me to change my mind with your tired and stock drivel about range/melee. Fact is, there is no trade off in the game, because if there was, we would nt have a problem. Why dont you wake up now and smell the **edit** cofee?
I still don't see what the problem is with melee vs ranged...but whatever...Any of you ranged people out there that have as superiority complex please come on and by and give it a try
I'll be glad to show you how well melee vs ranged works if you want to try =)
