Hey everyone,

I'm a rifleman and master marksman, and I recently decided to go smuggler, which means I need unarmed combat. I don't even have intermediate yet, and it's a little discouraging to find myself almost being incapped by chubas Anyway, is there a good strategy for getting unarmed xp without having to take 5 minute breaks between chubas? Should I use berserk? Or does it get significantly easier at intermediate?

Buy yourself a vibro knuckler. You don't need any certification to use it. Just make sure you get one with a high damage range, though it may cost a bit.

Peace...

Unarmed fighting gets easier as you go. Even though it splits XP, you may want to use your weapons to bring the enemy's HP down and then unequip to build Unarmed exp. Look for enemies with white or blue symbols next to their status bars. They tend to be easier at first.

Have Fun.

I don't really care for berserk really. And after the patch, I don't plan on ever using it again. (They're taking it from double damage down to 75 more points of damgage. **edit**?)

Anyway, I like to use unarmed hit for the big damage. It drains your ham bar a bit but it shouldn't be that bad.

Advice for any novice brawler - quit while you are ahead.

This entire profession tree is worthless, and unfortunately, I am trapped in it now as a Teras Kasi. Trapped because I chose trandoshan to accentuate the bonuses for Teras Kasi, and now although I can surrender all my skills, doing so will make my race selection a total waste. I'd be better off deleting and restarting, which I am EXTREMELY loathe to do.

First Have Fun

Second Dont let others tell you why Brawling is bad.

Many TKA traversed the entire Unarmed tree and the 125,000 xp to make Novice Teras Kasi Artist without Vibro-Knuckers. It can be done, it is not impossible. VK are nice but losing access to them does not make Unarmed impossible.

Unarmed is fun but a challenge. Some go the ranged weapon to pull the creatures and then melee them other exclusively melee.

Yes, I made my first box into Tera Kasi before I even was able to buy my first set of VK. It's very possible - you just have to get used to fleeing/dying/being incapped a lot.

Good tip though is to get any ranged weapon to the point where you get a bleed attack - pistol works great. Bleed the mob to pull it, then switch to bare hands and start whiffing. Chacnes are the bleed will do 90% of the damage but if you keep whiffing madly at it with your bare hands til it dies you'll get 100% unarmed exp (the key is to NOT fire any normal shots at the mob, BLEED shot only!). Bleed shot does no damage except when the first bleed kicks in so all exp goes to whatever you have equipped at the time of the bleeds - SO long as you land at least one hit with whatever weapon it is.

Maybe they fixed this this patch, they mentioned some bleed exploit, maybe this is it =).

Good luck and it can be done. It just takes a little bit longer without VKs, but you'll get there!

BTW I only figured out the bleed trick AFTER I was already Tera Kasi and using VK lol. Thought I'd share this to save you the pain =)

For getting up melee skills, I would kill newbie mobs until you get to adv or expert, then head to rori to kill squalls. If you have a decent weapon then this can be fairly easy. This is how I have gotten my two master specializations so far (unarmed and polearm), and how I am working on the remaining two (one-hand and two-hand). It will take a while to get all the exp you need, but it isn't too difficult, and squalls don't deathblow.
