Thread: how many people think they wasted their time?

how many people think they wasted their time now that they made us the biggest pushover in the galaxy? should of put the time in marksman i guess.

I was a Master Marksman as well as a TKA Novice not too long ago. Was going towards Commando. Well, suffice to say, I got rid of commando the day after I got it due to the substantial amount of problems they have. On a side note, that profession makes Brawlers look like gods in the game. So, I decided to go smuggler but got rid of that the next day. Not my cup o' tea. So now I'm working towards Weaponsmith and I needed to get rid of skills for the points. What did I get rid of?? Brawler you ask? No. I kept my Teras Kasi skills and got rid of all carbine and rifle skills. I only use my pistol on stuff like kreetles, to kill creatures that are almost dead and run away, or to draw them away from a group. I have so much more fun with my TKA even after the "nerf."

So, to summarize, no, I don't think they wasted my time. If anything, I wasted my own time with all the marksman skills.

thanks for the reply. ill keep that in mind. maybe it wasn't such a waste of time after all.

yes we are weaker now, but i still have a lot more fun with swords then i did as a rifleman. still, it would be nice to have more power since we can't match any marksmen class anyways (we can't catch'm! so if we do get in range i'd like to see us able to land more damage by far!). After all, we'll probably only get off one or two hits if the player is unskilled, and we should be able to kill them in one hit if that rare occurence happens.

I have fun with my sword, the AE attacks are nice.


However, the defense sucks, I still get hit all the time, Intimidation gets resisted more often than not (had something resist 10 times in a row yesturday), same for Warcry, I don't do that much better than a pistoleer as a tanking class. I don't understand why pistols don't take high damage from melee attacks like carbines and rifles do. Making marksmen take extra damage if hit by melee is a great way to keep brawlers useful but they broke it when they let one of the marksman classes be largely uneffected.


The real problem with brawlers is that pistoleers end up stepping into our bailiwick (good word, that) and they have all the advantages of a ranged class on top of that. The only reason I stick with Swordsman is the distant hope that SOE will make it so that the best brawling classes are brawlers, not pistoleers.


Dear devs: please restore the tanking prowess of the Brawlers by making pistol wielders take more damage when hit by melee. IMO, that would be a simple 2 second change to their code and it would help out a whole lot. I don't feel the tanking competition from carbines and rifles because everyone knows they get chewed up, but everyone also knows that pistols are just fine for melee. They shouldn't be.
