For example when looking ar ploerm, every few levels you can use a new weapon. (staff, basic lance or mental staff, Long Vibro Axe, and then Vibro Lance) My Question is can a Master Pikeman get a staff or long axe equal to a vibro lance, or is he forced to use a vibro lance or be gimped?

You can use any weapon you wish. However, if you do not have the certifications for the weapon you are using, then you won't do nearly as much damage.

depends on quality of the weapon. a nicely made lower class weapon can do better than a poorly made higher class weapon. If same quality of weapon of course the higher class would be better but i dont think it will be enough to to considered yourself majorly gimped. also remeber that each weapon has certain advantages and disadvantage such as a heavier lance may do more damage but a lighter pole may be more effiecent with your HAM costs.
