Thread: Devs, please check Death Metrics: Does it indicate 85% of deaths are brawlers?
This game has no tanks but the AI of creatures is so incredibly stupid, all they do is attack the closest target, thus the brawlers. So characters who have absolutely no advantages over other characters are the ones who take all of the damage. Marksmen do not get hit until all of the brawlers are dead or incapacitated, that's just how it is. Even when fighting mobs who primarily use their ranged attacks, Tusken Raiders for example, can be shooting at the marksmen who initiate combat with them but once a single brawler attacks them, they will pull out their gaffi sticks and proceed to hit only the brawler.
I am a Teras Kasi Student and I die.. a LOT. I have expert rifle and some other gun skills and I can say that I have never died with a gun in my hand. So, perhaps the developers might look into the percentage of which class is dying the most. When group combat is involved, its only the brawlers who die. The only time marksmen ever die is when all of their brawlers die or they are solo.
All brawler classes need to be beefed up to be as viable as the marksmen. I have died more times in the past few days than probably in all of my 8 months of beta testing and it's really quite frustrating. I get the indication that other brawlers are feeling exactly the same way.
On a side note, I have in the past two days taken 4 seperate screenshots where I have failed berserk 5 consecutive times. I thought the berserk failure rate was 30% but now I'm beginning to think it's even higher. So, we are the only ones taking damage and there are times where we do 700 damage ot ourselves just to get berserk going so we can deal as much damage as the marksmen or even edge them slightly, only because their weapons are still pitiful.
So are we tanks? We sure as hell aren't built like tanks. We have no bonuses or automatic skills to make us more adept for taking damage, yet the poor AI of mobs makes us take damage exclusively. Something needs to be done. I'm fed up with going out in a group with my friends and dying several times during the evening where none of them die at all unless the group gets overwhelmed or unexpected visitors.
I have to agree with this post. Melees need to be tougher if they're going to be taking all the hits simplydue to their proximity to the mobs. You can't tell the Melee guys to just "Keep a distance"! LOL!
Since Unarmed Melees are doing less dmgthen the other Melees especially...they could use some extra conditioning or dodging skills. They're supposed to be Masters of Physical conditioning, eh? ![]()
Unarmed brawlers are 100% worthless at present. Teras Kasi cant be but so much better with the crazy lag on such useful spells as blind and stun (/sarcasm). The only brawlers even remotely good are polearms.
We cant do any damage relative to ranged, all our attacks are lagged to hell...but yet we're expected to take all the damage.
Maybe the SWG stands for Star Wars Gunfighters. I'm a Teras Kasi Student now, and I'm dropping it until it becomes a viable choice again. I hate doing this, because this IS taking some of the fun away from the game for me.
I want to know why creaturres auto kill us right after incap i cant take it anymore its such a pain!!!

That isnt too bad. I am a epert 1-handed and I have a sword because I thought that hey maybe I will do more damage and take out creatures faster. Well creatures still hit me about 3 to 4 times for every one of my hits. They hit for 70 to 150 a hit and I am only doing 110 to 230. this seems fair until you do the math for every 230 max damage I do they do about 600 max damage. I too die about 4 to 5 times a day and I dont even bother to use insurance..it only works for one death and it costs too much. Well dont feel bad guys all of us brawlers I think are in the same boat!

What are you getting killed by? If, as a TK, you're getting offed by worrts, maybe there's a problem. Without knowing details, it's hard to tell how balanced or unbalanced the gameplay is.
That having been said...
I haven't found the unarmed brawler to be that unbalanced. My basis for saying that is two-fold:
1.) I, like many of you, was in Beta and remember all to well how some of the tweaks (or, more often than not, a combination of the tweaks) really made the unarmed brawler the group punching bag. That imbalance seems to have been rectified.
And
2.) After six days of game play, I am working through master unarmed. I, too, died a couple times -- usually when I couldn't burst run away or took a mission that turned out to be WAY over my head :-)I haven't died so frequently so as to be upset (though I plan on hitting Endor tomorrow so I may be changing my tune *LOL*)
IMHO, brawlers (except for the elusive Jedi and even then that's not a brawler class per se) shouldn't be tanks. Should brawler be tough in the close fight? Yes. Should we be unstoppable? No. Not to mention, in a group, there should be healers and shooter to support us and allow us to save them from the beatings we take. If they don't support us, it'sa bad group. We should leave and let them take their lumps.
One last thought: look at a marksman the next time they are running from the lowliest creature that has manageda successfulcharge: do they look really beefed up? :-)
You have to be smart about picking your fights yes, but plz AT LEAST FIX BEZERK!

In responce to the Coment about Unarmed damage:
they had to Nerf unarmed damage in the last 2 (or was it 3?) weeks of beta, at brawler level is much MUCH lessdamaging then it used to be, used to start off with 40 damage mod at novice and then nothing till TK novice where you would get Another 40 and then10 for each level of powerand 40 more at master, if i remember corectly. (i was just about master before the nerf and selective wipe =D) Anyhow The damage we were doing with just these mods was Probably just in line with what was intended, it Was Good...Although the Big Jumps in damage could have been in a more Curve like patern (like they are now).
But then they Adressed the Isue with Vibro Knuckle's. Se Vibro Knuckle's Just Add their damage to your base damage, in Many cases over 100, agood Knuckle i saw at the end of beta,base damage. So a Brawler with a Knuckle would in effect have a weapon that was 140 damage at 3.0 speed, not exactly fair to the 1h guys with a 20 damage survival knife =DMyBrawler at Master unarmed level washiting for 500's regularly while beserk(although so was thepolearm guy next to me, but he didn't get a nerf?!?) But if i had a beter knuckle i woulda managed 700's i bet =Dit Only got worse at master level with a 260'ish weapon...Hiting Prone opponents for Well into the Thousands(withhit 3 i was told)and if they had a rifle it was insane, or atleast it was the example i was told after the change....sneaky Dev's did it while i was on Vacation in Disney World =D
So Look get get a Knuckle after the Weapons smiths catch up and you should do Alot better =D
The Devsalready fixed Berzerk 1by nerfing the **** out of it.
